COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made Using 100% Juice From Locally Grown Apples
Henry of Harcourt’s Original is a crisp, dry cider made from tree-ripened Pink Lady apples grown in the Harcourt Valley. This cider is naturally carbonated by "bottle conditioning". To enjoy a sparkling clear glass of real cider our with a steady hand to avoid disturbing the sediment.

Made from 100% Pink Lady apples. Nice clear, sparkling cider. Aroma is very much like champagne, with a very slight appley aroma. Tastes quite nice initially - lean, reasonably firm body, nice light appley flavour with some acid - but is overrun by a hot, alcoholic and astringent finish where I would have much preferred some nice acidity. Champagne-style ciders (not that this is disgorged or anything) aren’t really my thing, but this is nice enough. Apparently their "proper" cider apples are just starting to yield enough for making commercial quantities so in a year or two hopefully they’ll have some excellent stuff.

Bottle. Slightly hazy straw-coloured, white mousse dissipates. Gentle aroma of sweet apples, some mustiness, flowers. Certainly tastes of pink ladies but they’re a fairly bland and sweet apple. But it’s crisp and pleasant.

Champagne olouring, although somewhat hazy. Low carbonation for a cider. Pleasant apple aroma. Taste leaves something to be desired, was hoping for a stronger apple flavour.

Bottle (500ml). Seemed interesting enough so I picked up a bottle last visit to Plonk Cellars (Canberra). Poured a hazy pale yellow. Great notes of tart, acidic apples in the aroma with wine yeast and pulpy red apple juice. Flavor was very well balanced; good balance between the sweetness and acidity; acidic apples, a great tartness, noticeable alcohol content, crisp red apples and grape skins in the finish. Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation, a dry/tart mouthfeel and a good finish. Far better than the commercial crap everyone else is selling.

Fizzy champagne head disappears at a rapid pace leaving a murky, cloudy lemon coloured juice. Bouquet is hard to define; mustry apple juice underpinned with a firming edge of acorns, dirt and pepper. Champagne like dryness as well. Lean, dry palate is not generous with flavour; high fizz adds to the dry structure, some supporting acid and a progressively bitter finish. Hard to see the 8.5%, and all-in-all quite balanced. Needs more fruity notes to get me excited.

4 Dec 05 - Lovely cider apple aroma. Cloudy light yellow colour. Light sweet apple flavour and a touch metallic. Dry champagne brut like finish with a touch of metallic notes and thinnish.

thanks to my mummsy for getting me a bottle of this. it was pretty damn pale with a faint green and yellow tinge. not way tasty but with a pleasant creeping tang that becomes quite sour. some apple strudel in the aroma. very dry, quite nice

whoa! this is soo bitter it’s unbelievable. starts nice and fruity but quickly turns into sour apple warhead flavour. way too tart for my liking, but it’s a pretty apple juice colour and at least it’s a bit interesting. from this brewer though, the perry is a lot nicer.
