2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 BlackDonald (1127) - Boise, USA - MAY 31, 2008
Pretty much a substandard example of the style. This lacks character on every level. Very ligth floral nose, with a somewhat grainy cereal maltiness, but the hops are pretty much an afterthought and noexistent.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Katamar13 (4) - Oregon, USA - APR 9, 2012 does not count
Straw color, very "skunky" aroma, thin mouthfeel, little to no taste, easy to drink but pretty boring.
2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 johnroblawson (16) - Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - MAR 31, 2012
On first impressions, like a glorified Molsons Golden. Pours with medium head that quickly disappeared. Standard US pale aroma, taste a little more creamy (within the realms of a light lager) and not as crazily fizzy as e.g. PBR. Very little bitterness in the finish. Overall decent but not Full Sail’s finest by a long way.

This rating is a historical assessment of what the Blue Boar Ale was. It is still a fresh, crisp, lightly maltly and hoppy ale but overall its fame suffers from the original brewery (Weinhardts, Portland, OR) no longer making it. It tastes like a real good, large brewery, retail beer should taste. Because it comes from my end of the world (N.W. USA) I have a fondness for it. Nothing goes down better than a ice cold HW Blue Boar Ale on a hot summer day. Who gives a hoot what color the bottle is... keep it cold and drink it empty!
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Sledutah (2154) - Utah, USA - JAN 9, 2012
12oz bottle from the state store
Appearance: Pours crystal clear light golden with a medium sized white head that dissipate fairly quickly leaving some spotty lacing, good carbonation
Aroma: Skunky, sweet caramel malts and honey
Taste: Skunky, grainy, corn and bitterness
Why a green bottle? Tastes like a juiced up Heineken, not for me!
2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 vikingguy (474) - Chaska, Minnesota, USA - SEP 13, 2011
Pours a bubbly bright gold color with smallish white head. Sour-hoppy-grainy aroma. Taste - nothing stands out. Corn, hops, hay and grass. Prickly carbonation. Light and refreshing, no off flavors but overall, this is pretty forgettable.
3.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 bpreo (994) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - JUL 18, 2011
Either this "Irish Style Ale" tastes a lot like Heineken, or Heineken is an "Irish Style Ale". Apparently Blue Boar is an American Pale Ale in the end. Hmmm.
1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 Hophead22 (2393) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - MAR 29, 2011
12oz bottle. Rating #159. Clear yellow/gold pour with a light white head. All skunk in the nose, it overpowers anything else that might have there. Flavor was the same, more skunk, why would a brewer use green bottles. (1539)

Bottle. "Double hopped"!? With Cascade?!? WTF? I don’t want to waste precious seconds off my life even responding to such ridiculous bullshit. This is a pale lager, and a pretty shitty one at that. Like every other Weinhard piss juice. FAIL.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 ThaJuggernaut (313) - Washington, USA - JAN 30, 2011
Light skunky beer with a hoppy taste. Not my favorite but I can drink it. It’s cheap and easy to find.

This has always been my go to beer. As far as a cheap, light beer goes, this will always be in my fridge.
