2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
It was $5.99 for a 6pack so I had to pick it up. Henry’s was always the "fancy" alternative when everyone else was buying 24 packs of natural ice lite in college. It had been at least 15 years since I’ve had a henry’s and it only seemed natural to pick the "dark" lager in hopes of superior flavor and it really delivers. Pours a clear dark brown, not quite black, not very opaque. Aroma is faint burnt coffee and light cracker. Flavor is less malty than other dark lagers, but representative of the style. There is a faint chemical taste underlying the roast. Hop flavor is minimal, body is light. Again, not a bad option if you feel like a dark beer without the acrid roast and a light body with light mouthfeel.

I’m a stout lover, and still think this is fairly decent. The palate is nice, the flavor is dark, and lager like, but a hell of a lot better than an american standard. Give me this one again.

Slighty roasted flavor. carmel malt. Watery and uneventful. My only complaint is that I can’t find weinhard’s porter anymore. I think as far as weinhard’s got that was the best.

I do have a soft place in my heart for dark lagers, so I may be a bit forgiving. Sweet caramel flavour and aroma. Even a smidgen of hops. Smooth palate. Expect a stout/porter and you’ll be dissapointed, but is a huge step up from their american standard. Over carbonated.

For 4.99 six rack this dark beer hits the spot for dark beer lovers. Has a decent aroma of coffee and chocolate pours decent. Would buy it again if my pockets were low and I wanted dark beer

A good dark brew. Some coffee / chocolate flavor notes from roasted malts, mild but nice hops flavors and complex notes. A very nice entry from Blitz-Weinhard. Let’s see if Miller can manage to keep their crappy influence out of the fine line of Weinhard beers now that they’ve gained control of this classic American brand.

Basically undrinkable, not sure how it rates higher than the other Henry's. Not like they're any good, just that this is so much worse. Like water with some dark food coloring thrown in, with a hint of ass.

A nice malt and hop aroma, looks good. The flavor has a little too much sweetness, and especially, an annoying wheat aftertaste that is bad, I hate wheat in beer, you may like that? Hops were fresh and American. If not for the wheat...a 3.2

Not bad for a dark lager. Stout lovers don’t bother. It does go pretty good with pizza. Try it.
