leeburg (92), Appalachian Trail, West Virginia, USA Jan 14, 2008 Got stuck in Seattle overnight, so I decided to battle the wind and rain and try to find a regional beer. Unfortunately nothing good is near the airport hotels. Weinhard doesn’t distribute to my neck of the woods, so I took a chance with the Hefeweizen. I could have mistaken this beer for MGD if it were a blind taste. I can drink cheap beer. I’m not a whiner. I just thought I was getting a Hefeweizen. The $6/6pk should have tipped me off.
Sleeper (66), Washington, USA Oct 5, 2008 Thick head that doesn’t go away. Cloudy gold. It doesn’t smell like a hef, more like a Bud. The taste isn’t much better. It tastes sour with a little grainy finish. Pretty bad... stchloe (197), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 7, 2008 Every Weinhard beer tastes almost the same to me. Not enough differentiation between similar styles. Angeloregon (2002), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 31, 2008 Ewww! Bottle from Fred Meyer in Portland, OR--Poured a dull hazy golden-amber body with a dying white head. Sticky artificial honey nose with dumb wheatiness and drab grains. No phenolic attitude of a Bavarian hefe and less hop bite than say Widmer or Pyramid. A waste of wheat, basically. Enniskillen (1589), Port Angeles, Washington, USA Aug 17, 2008 Amber with a thin white head. Aroma is light wheat, honey. Taste is malty, with wheat, light tartness. mjg74 (1803), La Mesa, California, USA Aug 14, 2008 Bottle from Hamilton, MT. Slighty hazy amber color. Slightly sour grainy aroma. Lightly spiced grainy flavors. Finish is a little watery. Only the slightest hint of yeast.
