thooper41 (207), USA Mar 7, 2008 12oz bottle: pours golden brown with decent off white head, aroma has decent abount of hops, flavor not a real hoppy IPA but they are there. pretty good beer not over the top in any way but still good. spikester (390), Salem, Oregon, USA Mar 24, 2008 Updated: May 25, 2008A new beer from Henry Weinhard. I’ve not been a fan of their other brews but this is a good one. Somewhere between an APA and an IPA this is a good session IPA.
Pours goden-copper from the bottle with a decent head. Pentiful lacings. Good piney hop aroma.
Nice palate, finishes bitter and dry.
Not for big-hop IPA lovers but a good value brew. Well balanced for the type with the piney-citrus hops winning in this instance. I paid $5.49 US for the sixer and the short case was on sale for $9.99 US. IBU is 45. Reid (988), Salem, Oregon, USA Mar 4, 2008 Updated: Mar 25, 2008New one from Henry’s
Typical orange colour of an IPA with a nice enough looking slightly off-white head.
Aroma is certainlly hoppy but really doesnt grab your attention, there is in fact a little unpleasantness underneath, but i had tio strain to catch it..so OK.
Flavour is quite OK the hopping isnt too agressive and there is a nice enough complmentary semi-sweet maltiness, in deed the hops coat the tongue near the end, not bad.
I liked the palate on this beer, not really watery but easy to drink, nice lingering hoppy after taste.
Not bad at all at this price range ( under $10 a 12 pack). I am rather enjoying it.
A good lighter IPA for the hotter months ( its is a Spring/Summer release).
Overall excellent value for money. Angeloregon (1829), Portland, Oregon, USA May 8, 2008 Bottle purchases at Belmont Station in Portland, OR--Clear orange-copper body with a thin yet frothy white head. Nutty, bready fruity nose. Sharp, tangy mouthfeel. Floral, creamy, bitter, oily, slightly cloying flavor. Surprisingly delicious beer. bitbucket (1536), Kirkland, Washington, USA Mar 28, 2008 Stubby screwtop bottle. How many other IPA’s can you say that about? I saw this badboy in the half-rack last week, but given my prior experiences I wasn’t going to invest in twelve beers from Henry. Thankfully, the local grocery store came thru with singles today. Pours clear light copper with a fading off-white head that translates into sheets of lace as the glass empties. Citrus, pine and just a touch of grass in nose. Body tends to light, carbonation tends to medium. A little bit of toffee in the taste, as well as some fruit, but with the light body it’s not long before we’re off to the finish. Lingering pine and grapefruit pith finish. Not a bad beer, and priced right.
