Henry Weinhard’s Redwood Flats Amber ale is a pretty decent session beer. The pour was a nice quality with a deep reddish amber color. Nice mild hop aroma with a medium sweet taste - nicely balanced overall. Redwood Flats Amber is nothing outstanding, but serves up nicely with a meal.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
12 ounce bottle - $1.49 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
"DEC1012" marked on the bottle neck.
Appearance: Pours a clear, light amber body with a medium-small, off-white head. A little spackling of lace on the glass walls on the way down.
Smell: Falls short on giving decent notes of caramel, toasted barley grains, hops, or anything, really. Bummer.
Taste: Washed down, watered up flavors of caramel over toasted grain. Very, very low fruitiness. The faintest touch of earthy, woodsy hops with barely any bitterness. Slight doughy accent prior to the hohum finish, but, then, metallic hints are waiting for you in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-light carbonation. It’s heavily flirting with wateriness, this one (christ, it’s got Watery’s number and is ready for drunk dialing).
Overall: Private Reserve, a dreadful brew, should’ve remained a bit more private and kept from a general release. Redwood Flats Amber is no better by any means. This one drinks with all the excitement of a Killian’s Irish Red. The sad is is that I would rather have had a Killian’s.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Henry Weinhard’s Redwook Flats Amber has a very thick, creamy, cream-colored head and a clear, bubbly, reddish appearance, with relatively thick lacing rings left behind on the glass. The aroma is faint, but one can pick up sweetness, malts and a little bread. Taste is a nice balance of medium-roasted malt, brown bread, and slightly floral hop bitterness, with an overall sweet presentation. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Henry Weinhard’s Redwood Flats Amber finishes soft, semi-dry, refreshing, and highly drinkable. This is a very mild and pleasant beer. RJT

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a dark amber/light orange with about 3 fingers of frothy off-white head. Aroma of pine and citrus with a hint of pear and some caramel. Taste is light bitter. Weak caramel with a bit of herbal hops. Light bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not bad. I would drink it again but wouldn’t seek it out.
