Amber Ales are mostly an American invention. And with its beautiful copper color and subtle hop aroma, our Redwood Flats Amber is our traditional take on a modern American classic. Featuring a unique blend of American hops and malts, Redwood Flats Amber is bold and assertive, with a strongly hoppy flavor thatís easy to drink and even easier to love.

Nothing special, as with a lot of Henry Weinhard products, but a decent easy drinking beer with little hop-flavor, but a good subtle malt.

Malt, sweet taste. Not what I expected from the looks of it but it wasnít too bad. Would like to try more Weinhards brews.

12 ounce bottle. Just saw this is from Oregon and hope it was not from Hayduke for a bottle share. It is already open! A little haze in the amber beer. A smallish beige head and active carbonation. A sweet malty aroma. The flavor has those malts along with some hops that are a bit off. The hops are floral and not at all big. There is some bread, cereal grains, and yeast along with honeysuckle.

pours a clear amber with a thick creamy off white head. the aroma is sweet, citrus, floral hops. the taste is very nice, you taste the malts and slight fruitiness/sweetness. there is a mild hop presence and overall quite enjoyable.

Certainly looks like a good amber. Faint malt nose is promising. Unfortunately the taste comes off as pretty average. The malt continues to be faint throughout. A bit watery. To quote another rater: boring.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a thid ivory head, with some lacing, over a clear dark amber (SRM 15) body....nose is cereal, light toffee/caramel from the malts, light herbs from the hops, no esters....taste is cereal, light toffee/caramel sweetness from the malts, hints of bitterness from the hops, no pine, resin, minimal esters, finishing with a lingering slightly astringent off taste....mouth feel light of medium, carbonation high giving a soda quality. This is a simple, boring, neither bold nor assertive beer. It needs more complexity in both the malt and hop backbones. The final off taste finishes this beer. BJCP 6/3/10/3/5

bottle - Amber pour, caramel and grainy malt aroma... the flavor is mostly sweet with caramel and bready character. The hops are quite mild. Itís strange to see the commercial description read "strongly hoppy". Certainly not. Itís not bad.

Aroma: Mostly bread with a little caramel sweetness; hop presence is almost entirely muted. Appearance: Watery copper pour with a patch of white head that dissipates into a very small patch. Flavor: More caramel than bread; has a very lean and muted feel; hops missed the bus. Palate: Light body, slick texture, average carbonation, astringent finish. Overall: Not a particularly memorable beer; there are so many better ambers out there.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle marked APR0113-C012009I Iím not sure if it is past is expiration date or what. I assume so. Anyway the pour is an attractive looking brass-copper color with a moderate of-white foamy head. The aroma is sweet caramel and toffee malts with very little if any hop note. The body is smooth and medium. The taste is also fairly sweet upfront with a mild balanced hop note at the end. Overall a pretty basic amber and likable enough.

Amber brew with a breadish aroma and taste mixed with some caramal malts and bit of hop bitterness that overall makes this brew pretty decent.

Nice malty aroma. Pours clear copper with a thin head. Lots of malt in the flavor, but not enough bitterness to offset the sweetness.
