COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Henry Weinhard's Summer Wheat Ale is brewed in Hood River, OR using locally grown Cascade Hops, roasted caramel malt and a touch of coriander and orange peel. The result is a crisp and refreshing filtered wheat ale with a hint of citrus spice and a clean, smooth finish

Bottle: Pellucid gold, light head and no lacing. Nose of orange peel, a touch of lemon and coriander like an orange dream bar with some vanilla. The flavor is of wheat, but not too husky or musky. Citrusy character dominates the flavor too. Decent for Henry Weinhards. Finishes creamy.

5000 (6300) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - APR 15, 2006
Bottle: Orange hued golden, completely translucent, moderate foamy white head, spotty lacing, light carbonation.   Heavy citrus aroma, oranges and lemons, along with cereals.   Pale orange flavored cereal with minor hints of wheat on the tongue.   Very artificial, very!   Pale malts otherwise, but the fake orange infused flavor is a bit much.   Body and mouthfeel are thin to moderate.   This tastes more like an alcopop than a beer.   Too clear, too much cereal, and a fake orange flavor that I would expect in my soda, not a beer.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2007 In appearance a golden/light orange beer with an attractive thick white head, nice carbonation strings rise. The beer has quite a distinctive aroma..that of those candy Orange slices , there is a slight peppryness, subdued yet overall pleasant. Light tasteing ale ,but in a good way, there is orange flavours, less artificial than in the aroma and a slight tongue tease of coriander at the back of the tongue. Pretty thin on the palate, but I guess that is what they were aiming for. Overall not a bad cheap beer and I can tell that if it werein the 90s outside this would go down a treat..in large amounts..but still well drinkable.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2006 This is quite simple, but acutally suprisingly drinkable. Funky spice nose, hints of citrus and some other kind of hoppy funkiness. Typical NW style wheat beer, that is not bad for a summer beer. This beer though, really does taste like fruit loops
