Henry Weinhard's Summer Wheat Ale is brewed in Hood River, OR using locally grown Cascade Hops, roasted caramel malt and a touch of coriander and orange peel. The result is a crisp and refreshing filtered wheat ale with a hint of citrus spice and a clean, smooth finish

Bottle pour into footed pilsner glass. Sun gold color, short-lived white head. Strong orange aroma (thumbs up for harlequinn’s Froot Loops comparison) carries through on the tongue. I didn’t pick up too much of the coriander. It’s light, thin, fizzy, and yet strangely still drinkable. Must’ve had too much Kool-Aid as a kid.

12oz bottle: pours pretty golden with small white head. aroma is pretty grainy. flavor almost tastes just oike ginger ale with orange flavor added. decent if you like soda sub par if your looking for beer.

Bottle: Orange hued golden, completely translucent, moderate foamy white head, spotty lacing, light carbonation.   Heavy citrus aroma, oranges and lemons, along with cereals.   Pale orange flavored cereal with minor hints of wheat on the tongue.   Very artificial, very!   Pale malts otherwise, but the fake orange infused flavor is a bit much.   Body and mouthfeel are thin to moderate.   This tastes more like an alcopop than a beer.   Too clear, too much cereal, and a fake orange flavor that I would expect in my soda, not a beer.

Thanks to riversideAK for this gem! Shorter stubby bottle with a twist off cap. Pale and almost copper orange transparent in appearance. Sweeter aroma, somewhat like hardtack candy. Orange peel immediately greets the tongue on the first sip. Not overly sweet. Every sip has that orange hit. Good tingly carbonation is welcomed. Interesting fruity variation, probably should be listed as a fruit beer. Soapy at times during the finish. Not bad! Finish has a gnawing mild linger. Thanks Alex for this west coast brew, I owe you one!

Not really the greatest Wheat Ale around, but Henry Weinhard’s was never the best bargain beer around.

Pours a hazy golden yellow. Aroams of bread, fruit and spices. Flavors of orange, spice and some hints of citrus hop.

Wow, carbonation, I feel like I just took a sip of citrus mouthwash. Lots of orange flavor here, a light grainy maltiness, but very soda like. Not really my thing, but found it refreshing nonetheless.

over the top orange-coriander aroma dominates - and this leads to a "wham! pow!" hit you in the head orange coriander taste - goes down with the aftertaste of oranges followed by a lingering coriander bite. In short this beer is orange and coriander. It is more like one of those Zima things than beer.

Strong artificial orange flavor in both the aroma and flavor. Also some grain and citrus. Pretty sweet beer, and not altogether enjoyable. It’s fairly drinkable I guess and it was cheap.

Flat taste with wierd citrus-like mouth feel. Grainy and a lower than normal after taste body.
