Bottle poured a clear orange amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of bread, earthiness, light citrus and a hint of pine. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, light orange zest and light grapefruit with a crisp dry lightly bitter finish.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 TomTron (294) - Aiken, South Carolina, USA - NOV 15, 2012
Pours a clear orange with a thin, almost absent white head. Aromas of faint pine, hops, and yeast. Taste is a tad bitter with medium carbonation but nothing really shines through. Finishes dry with a tinge of hop bitterness left on the tongue. Drinkable, but forgettable.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 argo0 (10382) - Washington DC, USA - NOV 15, 2012
12oz bottle, best by 12/31/12. Medium off-white head atop crystal clear light amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, pine, some grapefruit, not particularly aromatic. Taste is moderately sweet, bread, some pine/grapefruit. Light-medium body, low carbonation. Reading that description, I have to wonder, wtf are they thinking? It’s an IPA -- if they want to ease up on the hoppiness so the caramel sweetness can shine through (which they do with this beer), they should make it an amber.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 nick76 (4077) - Tampa, Florida, USA - NOV 14, 2012
The aroma is clean with grass, grains, herbs, lemons, and a touch of dish water. The appearance is golden with an average head. The taste is bitter and like the aroma. The palate is typical. Overall decent IPA but not great.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Beerathon (590) - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 14, 2012
A little too thin. Head disappears almost instantly. Hop scent is faint. Very mediocre.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 decaturstevo (4075) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - NOV 13, 2012
Almost orange pour with light white head and lace. Light mettalic aroma with a hinto caramel and some perfumy hops. Light tones of caramel and some light citrus notes. A hinto off flavor at the finish. Not much on the ipa front and really not much on the beer front, but not a terrible beer.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 unclemattie (3706) - Georgia, USA - NOV 12, 2012
12oz twist-off bottle. Pours clear, light
amber\golden color. Creamy beige
foam. Not much of an aroma. Some
herbal hops and citrus zest in the
nose. Not much flavor either. Watery.
Some faint toasted malts. Hop flavor
consists of leather flavored water. For
an Oregon IPA, this is not worth my
session.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Slipstream (1775) - USA - NOV 10, 2012
I remember first trying HW during a visit to Seattle many years ago, in the dawning days of the craft brew movement. I liked it a lot, and wished it was available in the Northeast. Now it looks like HW has been surpassed by a number of other breweries, but it should be remembered that they were one of the earlier participants in the movement. I am surprised this gets a low ranking - it is not bad at all. A mellow and tasty IPA, not very aromatic, lightly herbaceous and piney, and contains a dollop of sugary sweetness. A really good soft IPA.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 porkdiggity (90) - Ohio, USA - NOV 8, 2012
Nice copper color, but that's about the best part of it. Nose isn't too hoppy, though they come out a fair amount in the flavor. The flavor has bitterness, but it doesn't really have a good full flavor. Run of the mill IPA, nothing to write home about.
