COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally developed for British sailors stationed in India, IPAs were aggressively hopped to help prevent spoilage on long ocean voyages. Now that spoilage isnít as big a problem, weíve eased up on the hoppiness just a hair to let the caramel malts shine through. Itís a big beer with big flavor that really lets you appreciate hops in all their glory.

Pours a clear gold with a thin, white head that quickly fades. Aroma is subtly foral. Only slightly effervescent -- but not flat -- mouthfeel. Subtle, balanced taste -- not overly hoppy as the style might suggest. A little weak for an IPA, but not bad overall. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for the Daystrom M-5

12oz bottle. Pours a coppery color with weak white head. Citrusy hop aroma along with a bit of caramel malt. Spicy hop flavor balanced by some malty sweetness. Light to medium bodied with a slightly bitter finish. Average.

Brilliant dark gold cold with ivory head . Faint pine, floral, vegetal hop aromas. Mildly hoppy, lightly bitter pine, floral flavors on a grainy pale malt base brew--better than no ipa

Apricot pour with a thin head. Aroma is grapefruit and pine; typical IPA but a little softer. Nowhere near enough bite for an IPA. Thin. Flavors of malt, a little citrus and earthiness. So-so.

On tap at Ruby Tuesday. Decent hop aroma, no one type stands out though I imagine itís Cascade. Not overly hoppy or sweet. Mild caramel and a bit of pale malt. Dull amber-orange clear with thin foamy off-white head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Carbonic gaseousness and acidity with dry hoppy character. Not overly anything, though not a bad tap IPA. Satisfying but not memorable.

Bottle: Poured a copper with white head. Aroma is metallic hops and grain. Taste was hops, grain, pinch of malt, and finish was metal.

12oz bottle. Aroma is mild so its the taste. No real kick to it. Although the label reads brewed with cascade hops from the 44th latitude, hops are but the last taste in your palate.

12oz bottle that someone left in my fridge. Pours a crystal clear pale golden colored body with a finger-width, fizzy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is lighter with some hints of citrus pines and a lightly sweetened, somewhat bready caramel. Flavor is similar. A thinner, somewhat bready, lightly sweetened caramel malt backing with a light citrusy hopping. Finishes dry and clean with a light pine resin bitterness before leaving a medium length aftertaste. Light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, an inoffensive, but fairly boring and straightforward IPA. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this, but there is absolutely nothing remarkable about it either. Eh...

FROTHINGSLOSH (5168) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 15, 2012
Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub this beer poured a dark amber color with a medium sized foamy beige head that left decent lacing. The aroma was faintly bitter with light pine and grapefruit. The flavor was tangy and bitter with notes of lemon, pine-sol, Windex, perfume, musk and an off presence. Long bitter finish of Pine Sol, Windex and perfume. Medium body. Not good.

Whole Foods, Bowery 12oz ($2): Pours clear light amber with a medium thick head. Aroma is light malts and barely much in the way of hops. Taste is pretty light and weak. There is some bitterness.Aftertaste is somewhat astringent and some nondescript hops. Tastes like a mediocre ESB.
