COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally developed for British sailors stationed in India, IPAs were aggressively hopped to help prevent spoilage on long ocean voyages. Now that spoilage isn’t as big a problem, we’ve eased up on the hoppiness just a hair to let the caramel malts shine through. It’s a big beer with big flavor that really lets you appreciate hops in all their glory.

12 oz bottle from my neighbor Bob - thanks! Weak first impressions and a serious lack of body. Could have been much better.

Henry Weinhard’s Woodland Pass IPA has a thick, soapy, cream-colored head and a hazy (which gets more hazy upon swishing the bottle), bubbly, orange appearance. Lacing is quite pronounced. The aroma is of bread, bread crust, and hop oil, and the flavor is sweet, bready, and has a mild hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Henry Weinhard’s Woodland Pass IPA finishes semi-dry, mellow, and quite drinkable. Overall, this is a very good beer. RJT

Bottle--aroma was a bit off and didn’t have much hops. The flavor was in the same neighborhood, mostly malts and biscuits, no real hop flavor or bite. Ehhh. Produce place, 1.49

Bottled. Poured clear, bright golden with a short white head. The aroma picked up sweet honey and caramel malts with just a little resiny pine and citrus hops coming through.. quite malty and not that interesting. The flavor found sweet caramel and biscuity malts at the core, with fruity hops joining spicy pine and earthy notes around.. more peppery on the finish. Light-medium bodied and spicy on the palate with some prickly carbonation.. a tad metallic on the middle and back.. overall an OK brew.

This is really a poor IPA. I mean, this reminded me more of a pale lager than an IPA! Almost no hop flavor. Bad stuff.

Bought a 12-pack. Should have known by the low price. A dismal attempt at an IPA. Little body, faint hops, yuck. Anyone want 11 bottles of it cheap?

From a bottle, pours light for an IPA, golden. Respectable, though not great, IPA. Decent hop aroma and mold hop flavor profile.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours golden with an off-white head. Aroma of tin and pale malts plus light hops. For it to be called an IPA, there should be more in this beer.

Bottle. Pours golden orange with a thin white head. Light flowery notes, pale malts, and straw. Not that good.

Pours a golden amber with a frothy head that actually hangs on (most IPA dissipates pretty quickly so this is a warning sign). Was expecting quite a not o bold flavor as I heard this brewery is pretty popular on the northwest coast. Pretty basic IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
