Originally developed for British sailors stationed in India, IPAs were aggressively hopped to help prevent spoilage on long ocean voyages. Now that spoilage isnít as big a problem, weíve eased up on the hoppiness just a hair to let the caramel malts shine through. Itís a big beer with big flavor that really lets you appreciate hops in all their glory.

Clear, golden pour with a white head. The aroma is light with some mild pine and floral hops. The light body has a crisp texture with lively carbonation. It has a mildly bitter taste with a quick finish.

Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 10/26/12

Aroma: It is kind of sweet and malty, with caramel, sugar, and an underlying earth hop notes
Appearance: It pours an clear orange color with a small white head and drippy lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet with some metallic notes, and a little bit of hop bitterness
Palate: The body is fairly light, it feels a little fizzy and a little metallic, with a mildly dry finish
Overall Impression: This one isnít impressive, and it probably isnít even an IPA, but it isnít a bad beer. Still though, I canít really imagine too many situations in which I would purposely choose this one again.

Brouwerij (942) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 26, 2012
UPDATED: OCT 28, 2012 Poured into standard pint glass. Pours a clear, golden color. Two finger white head after a hard pour, dissipates to a rocky white cap after a few minutes. Decent lacing. Floral and mild citrus smell, you can detect the cascade hops. Relatively mild hop profile. A bit of maltiness. Mildly bitter finish that lingers for a bit. Medium body and good carbonation. Overall, a decent IPA, not particularly strong or hoppy. A drinkable IPA that probably wonít satisfy hop heads.

Pours clear amber with a thin white-ish head that leaves light lacing. Aroma is grassy with some caramel smoothness. Taste is unusually sweet for a supposed IPA and nowhere near as hoppy. Not bad for what it is, which is not an IPA.

Clear, bright amber appearance with a small white head and good lacing. Earthy, herbal hop aroma. Caramel malt sweetness obscures the subtle hop characteristics, especially in the aftertaste. Maybe more in line with an APA. Although it will not overwhelm you, it is a decent selection if you are on a budget.

Pint on tap at Playerís, Prospect Heights, IL.
Ar: very light on hops. Very mild. Not at all what Iíd define as an IPA
Ap: golden brown in color. Small head that sticks around.
T: Almost a little sweet. Completely out of style.
P: Nice carbonation. Makes this mediocre beer sessionable.
O: meh. Not an Ipa. I wanted something hoppy.

A very average ipa. Had this on tap, nice initial flavor but finish was very weak. Thin palate and watery feel.. Iíd pittas on this one.
