COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally developed for British sailors stationed in India, IPAs were aggressively hopped to help prevent spoilage on long ocean voyages. Now that spoilage isn’t as big a problem, we’ve eased up on the hoppiness just a hair to let the caramel malts shine through. It’s a big beer with big flavor that really lets you appreciate hops in all their glory.

New to NH, this seems to be an old school brand, but I’ve not heard of it before, points off for screw top bottles. Pours a medium copper color with a decent white head that slowly fades to a cap on top. the aroma is a bit earthy and piney with a mineral like aroma and hints of bread and caramel. The flavor is sweet and malty with lots of bread and caramel. The hops poke through and hit us with lots of onion and garlic. Sweet lingering sugary finish. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick mouthfeel. This is not bad its certainly easy enough to drink, but its certainly nothing exciting either.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a golden amber color with a decent one inch beige head. Taste is of hops, pine, resin, caramel, some malt and some wood. Nice hoppy and caramel aroma. Has a decent body with a slight bitterness and dryness in the finish. Very easy to drink and rather enjoyable. I really like this beer and it is offered at a great price too ($6.50 a six pack).

Not really sure I understand what we’re going for here. Too timid to appeal to IPA drinker, but y’know, not exactly a bud lite, either. Some citrusy hops, but mostly bland and watery.

Bottle. Poured clear dark amber color with an average frothy white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate balanced aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium balanced flavor with a medium balanced finish of moderate duration. This a good session brew.

Draft. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate citrus, earthy hop and caramel malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate complex bittersweet flavor with a moderate bittersweet finish of medium duration. This beer met my expectations.

12 ounce bottle from a Kroger. Pours a crystal clear amber color with a large foamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of floral and herbal hops with a bit of a soapy note. The taste is herbal and citrus hops. Pale malts. Medium bodied. Decent but pretty bland.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Amber brew wiht white head. Cascade hops int the aroma. Taste is light malts with a decent grassy hops finish. This palate, weak flavor. If you tried to make a lite IPA it might come out like this - not bad per se and probably better than many lighter styles, but really this is a shadow of the many fine IPAs out there.

Run of the mill, thin bodied IPA. The aroma and taste are muted and textbook IPA with a too-sweet kick on the finish. Reminds of cough syrup sweetness only after the bad medicine taste. Appearance was too light for my taste. Not horrible but not on the buy-again list.

Pours amber with a decent beige head and a fruit and toffee flavor. A bit roasty too.

Bottle from a Grocery Outlet. Pours clear coper with a white head. Light evergreen aroma. Med body or more. Frothy carb. Flavor is mild resin over some light roasted malt. It’s reasonably dry and finishing decently bitter. As good as many craft IPAs. Or maybe I should state so-called craft IPAs.

Clear amber pour with a nice white head. Slight pine and malt aroma. Bitter metallic taste.
