COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally developed for British sailors stationed in India, IPAs were aggressively hopped to help prevent spoilage on long ocean voyages. Now that spoilage isnít as big a problem, weíve eased up on the hoppiness just a hair to let the caramel malts shine through. Itís a big beer with big flavor that really lets you appreciate hops in all their glory.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with riversideAK. Poured a medium and clear golden color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of hay, floral hops, and earthy. Tastes were muted and consisted of citrus, caramel, and hay. Thin body.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2008 12 oz bot. Crystal clear light copper/amber with plenty of fizzy carbonation, decent slightly off white head and lace. Fair IPA aromas but masking a definite macro background. Flavor is fair to decent American IPA up front, but followed closely by that universal, sterile, macro, soap, and baking soda taste. Some caramel malt sweetness & adequate bittering hops but mixed with the descriptions above. Into medium bodied. Tastes like the adjunct cereal grains are in here. Better than I thought it would be though, considering the price, and since I have a case minus 3 in dee fridge Iíd better like it enough to finish it off. Doubt Iíll buy it again though.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2008 Aroma of banana and bread. Tastes like Private reserve, but with more hops. vinegar-citrus bitter, some malts. Highly carbonated, lack-luster palate.

12 oz bottle. Poured golden in color with a touch of amber. Small head quickly diminished to a lingering white band of bubbles around the glass. Aroma of piney, and floral hops. Tastes of mild hop bitterness, an underlying mild caramel sweetness. Easy drinker, but for me it could have a bit more hops.

Bottle. Poured medium honey amber with a thick lasting white head. Rather too foamy as it almost spilled over the top of the glass. Faint floral aroma. Light body, not full like an IPA IMHO should be. Lekker lasting hoppy finish. This beer ended much better than it began. Itís a servicable inexpensive IPA and rather better than some of Henryís other offerings.

UPDATED: APR 18, 2008 Bottle... This is one of the better looking beers I have poured from Henryís, a clear honey tone with a thick white head. Aroma isnít much, just kind of malt and crackers. Flavors of biscuits, ginger, malt, and a hoppy finish. Isnít too bad for Henry Weinhards, if this was an east coast IPA, Iíd be pretty impressed, but doesnít compare to Northwest IPAs.

12oz Bottle Pours out a goldish orange. Topped with an off white cream head. A light soap hop aroma. Tast of pretty good hops. Not much bitterness on this one. A little of the cardboard tast at the end. I think this is the best Henry brew I have had.

12oz. bottle. Crystal clear gold pour. Tremendous head drops into an even white cap and leaves lots of lace. Really a beautiful looking beer. Aroma is strong on grass notes, backed up with sprucy pine and some honey sweetness. Tangy sweetness on the front of the tongue, but a little light on hop bite, which I was admittedly expecting. Still, itís quite a pleasant beer, and Iím glad to see this label branch out and shake things up a bit.

nice bold hop aroma with some concentrated oil aroma as well. clear honey color, uneven white head. tropical passion fruit base bordering on artificial, solid clean hop flavor that finishes clean and true. perfectly respectable on a budget.

Stubby screwtop bottle. How many other IPAís can you say that about? I saw this badboy in the half-rack last week, but given my prior experiences I wasnít going to invest in twelve beers from Henry. Thankfully, the local grocery store came thru with singles today. Pours clear light copper with a fading off-white head that translates into sheets of lace as the glass empties. Citrus, pine and just a touch of grass in nose. Body tends to light, carbonation tends to medium. A little bit of toffee in the taste, as well as some fruit, but with the light body itís not long before weíre off to the finish. Lingering pine and grapefruit pith finish. Not a bad beer, and priced right.
