3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a clear gold with a thin, white head that quickly fades. Aroma is subtly foral. Only slightly effervescent -- but not flat -- mouthfeel. Subtle, balanced taste -- not overly hoppy as the style might suggest. A little weak for an IPA, but not bad overall.

British malty backbone. Clear amber orange in color, feels more like a pale than an iPa. The hops are nice, just too mellow and not enough of them in there to come out on top o the malt."

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance- The beer pours a beautiful golden amber color with a big billowy two finger off white head. The head fades over a moderate level of time leaving a nice lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell Ė The smell is largely of a bready and caramel nature mixed with some aromas of corn sweetness and a light fruit smell. While an IPA there is not a big hop presence with the aroma only having a very light citrus and pine hop smell.
Taste- The taste begins with a chewy breadiness and a lighter caramel sweetness upfront. A hop flavor of a citrus flavor is present from the start which grows stronger till the end. With the citrus growing stronger the caramel fades with some earthy and pine hop flavors later joining the taste. This combination of flavors take the taste to its end where a nicely hopped and smooth bready taste is left on the tongue.
Mouthfeel-The body of the brew is quite thick and chewy for a 6 % abv beer with a carbonation that is rather lighter. The thicker body combined with the lower carbonation make for a nice mouth coating feel and all the hop and bready flavors able to linger on the tongue.
Overall Ė I was quite surprised by this brew. It was nice and creamy with a rather good hoppy taste. Not a bad go to and certainly worth a try.

I read "Originally developed for British sailors stationed in India" in the commercial description.
Well, considering Iíve had this more than enough times while living on both coasts, hereís my take on this one.
This has always been poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a fairly decent golden orange to amber color with a one finger white bubbly/foamy head. Thereís barely any lacing.
The smell, well, there were some hops but they came through in more of a vegetal sort of quality. Honestly, it seemed a bit lacking.
The taste was bitter and sweet but at different times as it didnít really seem to hold itself together.
On the palate, this one sat at/about a light to medium in body and had a fairly decent sessionable quality about it. It didnít really have that harshness I expected it would have for an IPA to pummel my tongue into submission as it just seemed too nice on my tongue.
Overall, uhmmmm, okay, IPA, uh...honestly, Iím not into this as I was pretty disappointed.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
The aroma has some hops to it, but itís weak. There is some malt in there, too. The head is white, bubbly and quick to vanish. The body is a pleasant amber color, but thereís no activity here. It is more like looking at a glass of apple juice with a handful of bubbles. It hate to say it, but it tastes as if the brewer threw some used hops from a decent beer into a vat of Coors light and filtered it. There is no hint of caramel anything here. The oily finish is ruined by a bitterness that I think belongs to a hop, but I canít be sure. Guys, avoid unless the 12 pack is $5 or so. The one and only thing this brew has going for it is that it has 6% ABV. (sigh) One down....eleven to go. :\

Bottle... Clear, brilliant, amber pour with a small, wispy, white head. Good retention. Restrained bouquet - tough to figure out - caramel and cereal grains? Full-bodied and harsh with average carbonation. The flavor is all about acrid, acutely bitter hops. Lengthy, violently bitter, astringent finish. This beerís hop bill was not well-chosen. Almost medicinal. Brewed cleanly, but not pleasant.

Fr0m the c0mmercial descripti0n: "Now that spoilage isnít as big a problem, weíve eased up on the hoppiness just a hair to let the caramel malts shine through." ?!? Itís the 21st Century, f0lk. IPAs are ab0ut the h0ps, n0t the caramel! This pale, clear amber brew is even light 0n the caramel in the n0se, with an even fainter am0unt 0f zest and mayhaps s0me grapefruit. The weak flav0r relects what can be garnered fr0m the ar0ma, with a m0derate am0unt 0f bitterness. Meh. And Iíve never used that "w0rd" bef0re.
