MoritzF (8389) - Bochum, GERMANY - MAR 4, 2014
(bottled 05.10.10) Cloudy, orange-amber colour with a short and off-white foamy head. Slightly yeasty, juicy malty and slightly nutty aroma with slightly vinous notes of dried fruits (apricots). Moderately sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a calm carbonation. Juicy malt character with distinctive notes of apricots, traces of caramel and a bready touch; sweet malty and slightly vinous fruity finish with a whiff of bitter hops in the background. Has some nice fruit character. 26.XII.13

pivnizub (8724) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - JAN 17, 2014
Bottle(bottled 5/10/10; purchased at Kris Wines): Orangey coloured, hazy, mid-sized off-white head with a good lace, mineralic-yeasty nose with traces of alcohol, died peaches and toasted malt; moderate to solid sweet flavour with a slight bitterness, medium to full bodied, relatively soft; lingering woody and fruity sweet-bitter finish. Pretty good, it needs obviously some time to ripe…

This is by far one of the best ’Winter Warmer’ style beers I have had. ABV of 7.5% adds to the warming aspect of this lovely ale. The mouthfeel and rich taste dominate, the aroma is slightly lacking but that is not what this beer is all about. A real treat during the cold/dark winter months.

Leighton (10419) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 17, 2013
Bottle shared at the Craft Beer Co. - Clerkenwell, London Holiday Tasting - one of my contributions. Pours lightly hazy copper-gold with a fine, off-white foam head. Semi-ripe fruit nose, sweet bread. Medium sweet flavor with more bready malts, plum and other ripe fruits. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Sweet finish, more breadiness, toasty sugars. Drinkable stuff. Good.

Theydon_Bois (7898) - The ’Sham, Surrey, ENGLAND - DEC 25, 2012
Bottle at pre Xmas tasting thanks to Leighton - 21/12/12. Lightly hazed golden with a thin white head. Nose is light booze, dark fruits, orange marmalade, spice. Taste follows with more emphasis on the dark fruits, nutty tones, almond, spice. Medium bodied, soft carbonation - a little over spritzy, bitter dry finish. Ok - nothing special, alcohol is well disguised.

OleR (4759) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 22, 2011
0.5L bottle from Ex Cellar, Fulham as Hepworth Vintage Noël Christmas Beer. Low gray-shaded blond head. Clear orangey amber body. Sugary aroma of honey, toffee, roasted nuts and alcohol-soaked yellow fruits. Substantially sweet malt flavor. Nuts and biscuits, toffee and fruit-cocktail. Carefully hopped, some bittering is noticable. Oily texture, bordering on sticky. Quite full. Sweet malty and fruity ending.

500ml bottle, drunk on 4 December 2010. Bottled on 5 October 2010. Best before October 2015. Reddish amber colour. Good condition. Quite fruity aroma. A little hot alcohol. Some herbal bitterness on the palate. Fairly sweet. Pleasant enough but not as impressive as the previous Hepworth Christmas Ale. Probably a bit too young though. Flagged for re-rate if possible, with more bottled age
