Skyview (2641), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Mar 29, 2008 On draught at the Wausau brewpub location as Hereford & Hops Kölschbier. Pours a clear straw colored beer with plenty of carbonation bubbles, a creamy white head and slowly dissipates and leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of white bread and a combination of citrus and grassy hops. Taste is light bodied, some white bread malt, citrus zest, a touch of hay and vegetable character. Finish is semi-dry, a little bit on the thin aftertaste side of light bread malt and some grassy hops. As a Kölsch beer, this is missing some of the flowery character I prefer in the Cologne style Kölsch. ElGaucho (1719), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Mar 26, 2008 Draught at Wausau brewpub. There is literally no aroma to this beer. Crystal clear gold body with very little visible carbonation and a small white ring of head. Dry flavor, slightly bitter; crisp. Pretty well representative of the style. Good on a hot summer day. A little watery though. Not bad, but I’ve had better. BDR (1846), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Sep 4, 2007 On tap at the Wausau location. Light nose with faint malts aroma. Clear gold color. Grainy malt flavor with some faint hop bitterness. Long finish for a kolsch. muzzlehatch (4422), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jan 1, 2004 Draft (sample), Wausau WI location, July 03. Firm malt foundation, light caramel-biscuit aroma, very smooth, just a hair better than the hefe, on my way to becoming a kolsch-lover.
