Commercial Description:
This medium bodied ale has a malt character that still dominates but a moderate amount of hop flavor and aroma.

Pours hazy amber with off-white head that fades quickly. Aroma of grain, chocolate, sweet malt and hops. Flavor is well developed and well balanced. Good brown...

Had this one on draught in Wausau, Wisconsin. Somewhat cloudy and medium brown in color with a medium head, some notes of chocolate and coffee with apricots, mild finish. Pretty good, although different from many other brown ales.

Some decent malts in here make this probably the best H+H brew at this session, and its rating will rise due to its proximity to so much banality. But out in the field it couldn't hold up to more interesting browns.

Hereford & Hops beers in Bay City MI. are all clean, quality made beers. However, they seem to be brewed more for commercial success & acceptance by Budweiser fans more so than true to style. The Brown Trout Ale is the lone exception. Brett Moody (H&H brewer) has the right combination of ingredients to make this a truely enjoyable beer. Could pick it up on the malty aroma a bit to take this beer to the next level.
