On tap at the Escanaba brewpub. Pours a pretty garnet, fringed in sienna and rimmed with off white. Faint nose of alcohol
and fruitcake. Flavor is a rich blend of oak tannins, bourbon, chewy bread and some weird
bitterness (reduced hop form?). Good depth. Nice body. Chewy. Bready, but I can’t get over
this weird, heavily metallic bitterness. Harsh. Alcohol is a little high, but fine for the
style. Some mature fruits and aged alcohols. As nice as some of the background fruits, oak
aging and body are, this bitterness kills it. Not well finished.
