Bottle at home. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, roasted dark malt, some coffee. Flavour is moderate sweet with a moderate roasty bitter finish. Body is medium, a bit lighter than I expected. Nice easy drink, delivers on the nuts & chocolate promise.

(22oz btl)- Nice thick dark brown head which looks like you could float a dime on. Doesn’t stay around too long though. Body is black as sin. Wonderful aroma of bittersweet cocoa powder and ground hazelnuts. Thick body. Flavors of roasted dark malts and a bit of bitter chocolate. Most definitely a nice sipping beer for this evening as the first rains of November defend upon the Bay Area.

Keg at The Junkyard, Nottingham. Black with cream head. Initially quite a nutty, caramac flavour comes through, sweetish toffee although the chocolate notes push through and become more dominant. Very decent.

Bottle. A: Pure, dulled black with a creme color head and some lacing. N: Milk chocolate, hazelnut, some vanilla, some coffee and espresso, biscuit, goodly amount of char. Some molasses and oats too. T: Appreciably sweet, smoky and bitter with the sweetness dominating. M: Medium body, fizzy carbonation, no alcohol. O: Big porter. Lots of coffee and a well-integrated nuttiness. Better than Phillips Longboat.

Bottle. Heavy toasted, dark chocolate and nutty for the malt, moderate burnt herbs for the hops, light earth for the yeast, with cola and vanilla in the background. Head is small, frothy, light tan with no lacing and diminishes to a small ring. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, slick with a soft to lively carbonation and a dry finish. Deep and rich aromas and flavors make this one tasty Porter.
