Very beautiful nose of coffee and chocolate. Slight sweetness from the hazelnut. Near black with garnet highlights and full brown head. Taste is overt roast with moderate low chocolate and mocha. Moderate bitterness - a little lower than expected.

Pours opaque black with small beige head. Delicious aromas of mocha coffee, vanilla, hazelnuts and toast. Immediate nutty taste, with light vanilla, massive roasted malts, milk chocolate and treacle, trailing off with a light bitterness and dryness. Light-med bodied, very drinkable.

650ml bottle from Queens Plaza Beer and Wine 080714. My second chocolate hazelnut beer for the day and this one was not quite as good as the previous one, but it was still good all the same. In the glass the beers is black with a tan head and strong chocolate aromas flow from the glass. Medium bodied with plenty of chocolate in the flavour. Sits in the mouth with a creamy texture.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours very dark brown with a small beige head. Nose is sweet milk chocolate and almost soy like in that itís so nutty. Reminds of rogue choc stout. Taste is sweet vanilla and milk chocolate with distinct nuttiness throughout. Very sweet chocolate driven beer. The name says it all. Quite sweet. Solid

I was expecting to get a little more of a kick out of this beer. The aroma of hazlenut and chocolate were there but the beer itself felt very carbonated.Medium to light body, very smooth.

Pours black with a light tan head. Hand pump pour so the head is pretty tame. Aroma is chocolate on top of hazelnuts, some caramel sweetness, pretty nutty but not overwhelmingly so, fudge brownies, cocoa powder and dough. Taste is fairly sweet, lots of cocoa flavor, good dose of hazelnut but again itís well balanced compared to other hazelnut beers that Iíve tried, light herbal note in the finish. Mouthfeel is smooth but itís a hand pump pour, so thatís not a surprise and may not be indicative of the beer served via other methods, lingering light oily feel. Solid beer, lots of cocoa, good nut balance it adds to the whole without taking over.

22 picked up at the COOP over the weekend.. Paid a pretty reasonable $8ish for the bottle... Finally got around to enjoying it tonight.. Pours a standard black.. 2 finger dark tan head.. nice reverse leopard lacing... Aromas are pretty proper... perfectly put together chocolate/hazelnut cups.. judicious hand with the porter/dark maltiness to really marry the chocolate and nutty components... The nose is fantastic. Flavor has all the same notes with a richer porter/malty note.. hazelnut element becomes a little bit artificial/extract after a while, but perhaps could be balanced out by a slightly larger residual maltiness that would "catch" that nutty extract note. The body is surprisingly smooth for a 7% porter... decent bubble and a medium/lite-medium body.. Nicely done. I rarely drink porters any more... but I will probably seek this one out a time or three more... and certainly recommend it to friends... especially folks who think they donít like beer. Well done.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2014 Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized creamy brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was toasted marshmallow and hazelnut. The flavor was toasty and malty with lots of hazelnut and hints of cocoa, wood and anise. Long toasty hazelnut and cocoa finish. Moderately full bodied and creamy. Excellent.
