Bottle share at Kennyís 20Kfest. Thanks to Fergus. As íHeretic Chocolate Hazelnut Porterí, 7%. Black with a small foamy brown head. The name of this beer is not misleading when it comes to aroma. Nutella, smooth hazelnut and chocolate. Not much more to say. Body is quite light for the style, tingly carbonation, a little foamy. Taste is smooth chocolate, vanilla, roast malts. A decent sweet porter. The aroma is particularly nice - shame about the body.

Bottle at MadMitch76 20K tasting, thanks to Fergus. It pours opaque dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is earthy, toasted malts, cacao nibs, toasted nut, dark fruit and a touch of jam. The taste is toasty, earthy, chocolate, Nutella character, coffee grounds, toast nuts, light acidity and just a hint of alcohol with a dry finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and slick mouth-feel. Soft and well-rounded. Works well.

On tap at Gourmet Haus Staudt in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is vanilla, cocoa, nut butters. Taste is creamy but also clunky (in a way). Something mildly awkward here. Like peanut butter on your Cocoa Puffs. As the previous reviewer put it, "flabby". Yes, flabby. Maybe even chabby.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate, caramel, roasted nuts, coffee), with notes of vanilla and chalk. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Pleasant enough aroma, but kinda flabby and overly sweet in the mouth, so itís not a lot of fun to drink. Nice lasting head though.

640ml bottle. Thick, dark brown with a good tan head. Aroma is sweet, chocolate and praline. Taste is similar, but with a hefty coffee hit too. Tasty

The scent reminds me of those fancy chocolates that only come out during the holidays, good quality chocolate with strong Hazelnuts. Has the color of used oil with a small tan head. Sweet, like a thick layer of Nutella on slightly burned whole wheat toast. A hint of prunes and pumpernickel bread. Loads of flavor, even more intense as it warms, slick feel coats the mouth.

Bomber. Aroma is nutty, chocolaty, earthy. Pours black with red highlights and a medium beige head with decent retention. Taste is sweet and nutty with a faint tartness I donít care for too much, but itís not too intrusive. Overall, itís pretty tasty stuff.

Chocolate, cocoa powder, mild sweetness, thinish body, small head that quickly disappears. Iím not getting a whole lot of hazelnut from it, but itís a very tasty porter all the same.

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a snifter. Black with small beige head. Aroma is hazelnut, medium body, medium carbonation, and some little lacing. Taste is chocolate and hazelnut.
