[Bottle] Pours a jet black color with a frothy brown head on top. Foam calms to a nice ring around the glass. Heavy roasted malt aromas are mainly centered around chocolate. Lighter ash and vanilla notes as well in the nose. Flavors include semi-sweet chocolate, vanilla, hints of hazelnut, dry burnt grains, blonde roast coffee and brown sugar. More dry than creamy. Fairly low carbonation level. Tasty.

Dark brown pour at the brewery taproom. Slight tan head. Awesome nose on this - hazelnut and chocolate. Sweeter and with a creamier mouthfeel vs. shallow grave. Nutty and chocolate flavors are pronounced. Slightly sweet finish with a hint of bitter coffee.

Black pour from bottle at home with christpuncher. Off white ring of head. Light coffee and mocha taste. Malty and vanilla notes. Pretty good

A very nice chocolate porter. Pours a great thick black with a tan head. Smells like hazelnut, with a bit of chocolate and vanilla. Taste starts off with bitter dark chocolate, which is smoothed somewhat in the finish by the hazelnut and vanilla. Had on tap at the Brewery.

Must have missed something with this one. Find one of my least favourite nuances of a beer relates to hazelnut. Just doesn’t work with anything around it, and this one has that flawed quality.
It produces up jet black with little life and a tight, compact, glossy tan head. Aside a lot of roastd hazelnut comes hints of kecap manis, Marmite, Marzipan, scorched praline and nut husks. Obscure, almost artificial, nutty and woody chocolate flavour comes through like cheap cooking chocolate and powdered chocolate alternatives. Buttery, sweet caramel linger after a bitter, chocolate malt finish that is lightly peppery and phenolic. Quite lean to thin in body. Hints at sweet ssoy sauce and Marmite but the hazelnut and fake chocolate notes off-set it. Heavy on the carbonation, so swirly-swirly goes the glass to rid it of that. I don’t understand how this could be enjoyable. More body and alcohol maybe. It is neither refreshing nor one to mull over as it is pretty well one-dimensional. Not bad, just not at all great! Pours a solid black with a tan head and lacing. It has an aroma of chocolate and hazelnut and a flavor that is chocolate and smooth malt with a hazelnut backbone. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 ounce bottle purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma is full of syrupy hazelnut sweet character. Reminds me a lot of Rogue’s. Not much else happening in the aroma, Light toast. I love that hazelnut character, though. Eseentially opaque black body with a medium, strong, tan head present. Good lacing. Starts with a nice sweet, chocolate character, before a little roasty malts comes through in the middle with a good dose of hazelnut. Finishes with some sweetness and a bit of a roastiness with some coffee character later, too. This is velvety smooth. A true dessert/coffee-head beer.

Pours black with a fading tan head. Nose shows chocolate and hazelnut, mainly hazelnut. Pretty much ferrero rocher in a glass. Awesome. Some bready malt too. Flavours include more of the same, but with more of a bitter cocoa note and a fair bit of roasted malt. Body could be a bit richer/creamier.

Bottle shared @ ChrisO after GBBF Day 1. Dark brown to black color, small lightly brown head. Aroma is malts, indeed a lot of chocolate, vanilla, lots of hazelnuts as well. Taste malts, chocolate, hazelnuts, lightly vanilla, lightly roasty, a bit sweet initially and slightly chocolate bitter in the finish. A bit thin texture, medium body, medium carbonation. Could use a bit more viscosity. Nice when a beer is actually what the name says it is.

International IPA day train tasting with Kenny, all aboard the 15.50 from Waterloo to Sirenville, 01/08/14. Light black with a moderate tan covering that thins then retains. Nose is nutty, light roast, cocoa powder, Nutella. Taste comprises hazlenut, Cadburys Fruit and Nut (case), cocoa powder, toffee fudge, trace of dark fruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough porter.
