A rich, full, malty English style barleywine. We made Dead Weight by cramming as much pale ale and British crystal malt as the mash tun would hold, then we added a bunch of English Kent Goldings hops to balance the beer and add delicate hop notes. It is rich, it is big, and it is tasty.

I dug this malt leaning Barleywine. Big bodied and sweet but not even close to cloying. Solid across the board. Fruit, caramel, moderate hops. Good.

Sweet cherry pie in a glass. Weighty and rounded byt still too young. Cloying after a bit. Still an excellent example and could be unbelievable with a few years on it.

Russet color with brown tinged. Cherry pie, caramel, raisins, brown sugar, moderately sweet nose. Big rich malty mouth with tons of cherry pie, burnt raisin, a touch of molasses perhaps. Big malty and sweet. Well balanced with warmth at the end. Very rounded great winter warmer. A bit brutish, but really good.

Tap from the local taphouse. Pours a murky orange/brown with an off white head. Nose is malt and strong toffee sweetness. Butterscotch hops. Taste is loaded with malt and caramel. Really strong taste. Hops and booze. Can really feel the booze. Barley wines are dangerous. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours cloudy dark amber/brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt. caramel, alcohol, biscuit, floral and grass hops. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm and caramel finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonaiton is soft.

On tap at City Beer. An unclear, dark amber beer with a thin, beige head. The aroma is quite malty, toffee, bread and a little roasted hint, but with a good shot of hops too. Soft carbonation, very smooth, quite sweetish and almost sticky, and a warming alcohol touch. Lots of flavor, bother malty and hoppy, a balancing bitterness almost them. Lasting finish. Most certainly a beer I could repeat. 130805

Too strong for me, pours deep brown color with a white head. The aroma has a lot of sweetness. Loved the caramel though.

Tap at City Beer. Poured a murky brown with a thin top layer. Nose was hoppy and malty. Maybe it was circumstance or maybe this beer is just fantastic. What a delicious first sip. Thick mouthful of hops and malt with a hint of sweetness. No bite at all. Extremely drinkable for a young barely wine. Rich and full bodied with great balance and flavor. The end of each sip all I could think about was having another sip. Top notch.
