COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Evil Cousin is Heretic’s take on a West coast imperial IPA. This beer is a bold, in-your-face hop monster. It has a light, easy drinking malt character that allows the hops to stand out. The hop character in this beer is intentionally on the dank side; big, sticky, and aggressive. This beer is for those of you who can’t get enough hops. Join us on the dank side.

Tap. Clear golden orange color, excellent foam and lacing. Pleasant smelling floral character. Bitter flavor obviously, more citrus based. Surprised by this, much better than i expected.

Lots of malt and hops like you’d expect, but with a finish that was bitter and quite herbal or grassy.

Pours cloudy and gold out if the bomber. Strong and hoppy, with just enough malt to keep it from going too far. Despite the very strong hops, my taste buds still work, a definite plus. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bomber. Pours a murky copper color with big head and nice lacing. Aroma is of big earthy hops with lots of mango, pine, grapefruit, pineapple and caramel malts. Taste is sticky, piney citrus hops with a solid malt backbone. Great DIPA!

Pours a Nice golden orange with a medium thick off white head. Aroma is more candied fruit and honey than a normal west coast style dipa, but still intriguing. Flavor is grapefruit, pine, and just a hint of caramel malt balance. Very good beer, but over priced at $9/·bomber

Bomber. Big citrus nose, with large shots of caramel. Hazy light orange/brown color. Grapefruit and bread dipped in honey / mid gets some balance, but hops are a bit extreme / finish has another layer of hops, with just a hint of the caramel. Medium-heavy body, with hops felt as a texture. Maybe light alcohol for an imperial, but it certainly tastes and feels like one. More or less a hop bomb. Pretty good.

Poured from a bomber with a light carbonation. First aroma and taste had lots if citrus hops. As the glass progressed the piney hops came forward. Not a bad double IPA but it had a bit of a lingering bitterness that I don't like. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from mane liquor. Pours a bright orange with a nice firm white head. Nose has an aggressive hop profile! Quite citric and resinous. Grassy type hops are evident maybe some herbs in there. Taste has a citrus tang about it and spicey notes coming through as well. Soft carbonation make for easy drinking. Bit different to your usual massive DIPA. Good beer I like this ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

In short: A under-malted and over-hopped abrasive piney and grassy golden IPA. Hard to drink
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed relatively fresh a few weeks after receiving it from oakbluff, thanks a lot Scott
The look: Clear golden body topped by medium off-white head quickly dissipating to a small persistent layer of foam
In long: Nose is rather piney but also with plenty of dry grass with a spicy twist. Taste has elusive malts, light body, residual sugars without backbone. Balance is obviously not the goal here. Hop profile was like a hefty dose of chinook-like high alpha acid sandy piney hops with also a whole lot of Saaz-like dry grassy hope with a spicy edge. I’m almost certain no Saaz went into this American IPA but that’s what it tasted like. There was also a soapy edge I could have done without. Very looooonnnnnggggg after-taste. This beer didn’t work for me, abrasive, not refreshing, hard to drink despite the light body, couldn’t take big sips without making faces. I was very much disappointed by this one, and it is the all those disappointments caused by all the boring beers I buy that drove me into drinking, and that makes perfect sense to me.
