COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Evil Cousin is Hereticís take on a West coast imperial IPA. This beer is a bold, in-your-face hop monster. It has a light, easy drinking malt character that allows the hops to stand out. The hop character in this beer is intentionally on the dank side; big, sticky, and aggressive. This beer is for those of you who canít get enough hops. Join us on the dank side.

Bottle. Pours hazy straw gold with nice off white head and decent lace. Aromas of pine and citrus among a light caramel malt character. Light-medium body, medium carbonation - nice big bitterness and piney grapefruit hop flavour. Malt takes a back step. Finish has a piney grapefruit flavour and bitterness linger with a touch of malt sweetness. A bit semi-sweet at first but a touch dry and mineral on the palate.

I knew while pouring this beer that I would like it. Hops filled the room and you could see from its rich golden colour that it was going to be pleasing on the palate. Not as sweet as I thought it was going to be and was quite dry hopped.

65cl bottle in San Diego. Pours hazy orange with an initial huge, creamy head, and it sticks around afterwards. Aroma is of significant resiny and citrus hops, sweet crystal malt, and hints of tropical fruit (mangos). Flavor is more appealing in that it lacks the sweetness I feared from the aroma. Instead, the resiny hops immediately take over my palate followed quickly by citrus flavors. Iím impressed by its deceptiveness. As the commercial description claims, it really is a hop monster and itís an easy drinker (not to be confused as a session beer, by any means!). The carbonation is medium high, a bit high for style, yet itís necessary to keep the balance for what this beer is intended to be. Some alcohol warmth but it doesnít get in the way at all. Medium to med-full body. Iím very, very impressed. I wish we could get this in NC! Are you listening, Jamil?!

650ml bottle. Wow, everything about this beer is good. From the vibrant golden orange colour and deep light white foam cap to the nose penetrating hop aromas and big lingering hop flavours this is one mighty beast of a beer. If only everything evil was this good.

On keg at The Craft Beer Co. Pours a dark golden colour with a fair white head. Aroma of pineapple, orange sherbet, lemon and caramel. Similar flavours with moderate carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Mildly bitter and nicely dry to finish. Lovely.

light copper pour with medium white head - aromas of pine, grapefruit, and resin - extremely bitter with only a slight malt taste in the back followed by citrus and a lingering bitterness. Dare I say it? Too much hopping.

Sampled in a bomber. A big time ipa with a huge bite. A really enjoyable slow drinking ipa. Has a very floral aroma and long lasting palate boost. Great brew.

Bomber purchased at Bine and Vine ($7.99). Pours a golden-amber hue with three fingers of frothy white-ish head. Aroma of resiny pine sap, dank hops, earthy herbs, and a hint of citrus. Flavor of very "interesting" hops (soapy, vegetal, herbal, and dank hops), pine, caramel, some sour-ish citrus, and somewhat noticeable alcohol. Finishes juicy and bitter. An interesting DIPA, quite different from the norm. (129, 727)

65cl bottle. Herbal, pine and citrus aromas. Pours golden, with persistent white head and some lacework. Medium bodied, average carbonation and oily texture. Taste is really bitter, but balanced along some herbal and pine notes. Very powerful and enjoyable one.
