COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Evil Cousin is Heretic’s take on a West coast imperial IPA. This beer is a bold, in-your-face hop monster. It has a light, easy drinking malt character that allows the hops to stand out. The hop character in this beer is intentionally on the dank side; big, sticky, and aggressive. This beer is for those of you who can’t get enough hops. Join us on the dank side.

22oz bomber, no date for $7.49 at Olive Tree Market in OB. At first, it smells a lot like Marin White Knuckle DIPA, though I feel like this is a little more sweet malt heavy. This has a lot of sweet ripe orange hops with some tropical fruit, some dank (Columbus) notes hiding behind.Clear medium orange with a two finger yellow white head, good retention. Flavor has more dank hop notes that build with every swallow. Not quite as sweet as the aroma led on, and the alcohol is actually a fair amount stronger than the stated 8%. Semi-dry finish with a bit of toasty malt, and bitterness peaks at a 6-7. Low creamy carbonation with a big full body. Better than I thought it was going to be, and might still be a little sweet for some people--this ain’t Pliny--but at least there isn’t ridiculous amounts of crystal malt. A lot like White Knuckle. Maybe I’m just a sucker for Columbus.
