Evil Cousin is Heretic’s take on a West coast imperial IPA. This beer is a bold, in-your-face hop monster. It has a light, easy drinking malt character that allows the hops to stand out. The hop character in this beer is intentionally on the dank side; big, sticky, and aggressive. This beer is for those of you who can’t get enough hops. Join us on the dank side.

Tap @ The BeerMongers... Poured vibrant golden/yellow with a thick, frothy, retaining white head. Nose had pungent, earthy, resinous danky notes. Those came through to the flavor with an added bready balance. Sort of drying towards the finish along with a big earthy, vegetal, onion-like hopped spice notes. Quite nice.

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2013 8%nice floral herbal aroma . Orange gold color. The taste is great a punch of bitterness followed by floral hop notes. It didn’t strike me as terribly complex but as you drink it you keep noticing different flavors with every other sip: grapefruit, lemon, pine, dank, etc. an impressive multi-layered IPA. Part of the 1000  at AQ Bevolution’s Event at Kamikaze. At Kamikaze I am getting much more dankness in the aroma, resin & weed... The taste is still great biscuity malts with a bitter weedness to it. Again displaying the difference in glassware from a lager glass to a chalice.

Draught at Tadg, quite clear, amber colour. Lots of hops on the nose. Very hoppy taste with reisin too. Very drinkable.

On tap @ Tap25 in Livermore, CA (at least 3 visits). Clear, golden, nice-looking beer. Smells piney and sweet - a great combo. Tastes the way you’d want a DIPA to taste like - citrus, pine, sweetness, hoppy and bitter finish. Medium body with some above average carbonation. One of the better hoppy ones but at 8.0% and compared to fav Pliny the Elder...it comes up a bit short.

On tap at Toronado, August 2013. Hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma and taste of hops, pine, grape and citrus. On the sweet side with a nice bitter finish. Fresh and really nice to drink.

22 oz. bottle, sent from Neillago (thanks a lot, Neil), pours a hazy orange amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma brings out strong dank hops, earthy, a little herbal notes, and just enough malt to back. Flavour destroys the palate, with intensely strong hempy, pot-like hops, more pot, and some earthy malt to back. Extremely brutal and uncompromising on the palate. Hoppy as hell, leaving a very dank finish. Excellent stuff.

Not a shy beer... Concentrated aromas and flavors of dried mangos, peach juice, tropical fruit, pine, herbs and bitter orange citrus... Solid bitterness, that is partially cut by a mild, malty sweetness on the mid-palate. Enjoyable bitter pine/citrus/herb nuances linger on the finish. Overall a solid beer. More rich, tropical/mango/peach layers then other SF Bay DIPA's. I would drink again.. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

Bottle:   Fiery amber, moderate white frothy head, nice lacing.   That is weird, its like a hoppy pepperoni aroma.   Yeah, hoppy spicy pepperoni.   While not great for a beer, its like I want to take a bite out of it or something.   Really weird hoppy flavor up front, a little dank, somewhat vegetable like, with a bit of that spicy pepperoni.   Does at least have a bit more citrus peel and pith on the backside.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Not overly hoppy, or overly malty, which makes me wonder why or how this is an Imperial IPA.   Finishes with wet/dank hoppy profile, a little citrus peel and pith, and a slight vegetal aspect.   Not a real big fan.

Has a strong pine bitterness aroma. Taste is a dry bitterness with a hint of citrus. Solid beer.
