Evil Cousin is Heretic’s take on a West coast imperial IPA. This beer is a bold, in-your-face hop monster. It has a light, easy drinking malt character that allows the hops to stand out. The hop character in this beer is intentionally on the dank side; big, sticky, and aggressive. This beer is for those of you who can’t get enough hops. Join us on the dank side.

Poured into a tall shaker showing cloudy yellow and a finger of white clean foam. The nose shows a lot of round, ripe and forward tropical fruit - mango, passion fruit, guava. The palate is moderately carbonated and medium bodied. Flavors of moderately intense tropical fruit throughout with a flat and robust IIPA bitterness at the finish.

Smells like of citrus fruit pine resin. Colors a light yellow and to slight orange color. Taste is citrus fruit followed up by a nice strong pine resin flavor with a nice smooth sweet malt backbone. Taste lingers on your tongue just strong enough to enjoy it. Nice rounded double IPA from heretic.

On tap at Evernote in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is light pine, hops. Taste is a standard IPA. Very light for an Imperial IPA and without the big, slick body. Closer in style to a light IPA.

Slightly hazy amber color with medium white head. Not the freshest bottle. Aroma has grapefruit, peach, mango, sweet citrus fruits and some sweetness. Taste follows the aroma, tropical and sweet citrus fruits with a strong sweet character from the oldness. Bitter aftertaste.

Can. Pours clear amber with a small creamy brief white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of hay, perfume, tropical fruit and lime. Flavors follow nose and additionally honey, ripe pineapple and grapefruit. Average carbo with fine bubbles, medium body, medium to heavy bitter, lightly sweet and a very long very bitter finish with perfume accents. Well balanced.

Nice white head... good lacing and retention.. the brew is very clear light orange. The nose is really weird for me... garlic chives come to mind immediately... garlic and onion.. nothing else to speak of... so very odd. The garlic and onion notes come swinging again on the palate and are punctuated by some citrus zest... pale malts mid palate pull the hops up and out... but the finish is just long and lingering garlic.. The body and carbonation are near perfect.

This is a very well made, quite subtle DIPA, with aromas of pine, grapefruit, nougat, peach, plum and honey. The alcohol is quite prominent in the mouth, but the hops are strong yet refined, and there’s a nice aftertaste of plum, pine and honey that make this a very enjoyable beer.

Aroma is sweet malts with hop aromas of passionfruit, grapefruit, citrus, and lemongrass. Taste is pretty much the same however it finishes very sol monthly and little to no hop tartiness or burn. Appearance is a clear gold with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.

22 oz bottle. In Hawaii Tasting with IslandHaole. Thanks Dan! Clear golden color with a small white head. Fruity hops, moderate bitterness and dry grainy malt in the aroma. The flavor is dry hops, mild tartness, bitterness and malty dryness. Tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
