COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Evil Cousin is Hereticís take on a West coast imperial IPA. This beer is a bold, in-your-face hop monster. It has a light, easy drinking malt character that allows the hops to stand out. The hop character in this beer is intentionally on the dank side; big, sticky, and aggressive. This beer is for those of you who canít get enough hops. Join us on the dank side.

Bottle from GBBF 2014 and drunk at home. Clear gold lasting white head. Well then. Itís a big double ipa from the States, yes. Resiny hop, check. Not quite as fresh as it could be or is that the crystal malt talking? Itís got sticky resiny hops. Itís got decent bitterness. Hop finish is pleasant. Yes an extreme beer but nothing to make it stand out from the other extreme dipas. Hides alcohol quite well but there is some heat on the finish. Decent. But against the style? It is what it is.

Keg at North Bar, sweet doughy malt, grapefruit, pineapple & piney hop, pepper, funky and a bit more complex. Palate is oily, finish is balanced leaving a sweet citrus aftertaste

Aroma: Resinous, onion/garlic, damp grass hop aroma mixing with some alcohol and a bit of caramel. Appearance: Light copper and hazy. Minimal head. Taste: Well-balanced is the first thing that comes to mind. Itís a big double IPA, but the hops are reigned in by a solid malt presence and sweetness. Hop notes are resinous, grassy, dank, a bit of onion/garlic. Itís followed up by a light malt sweetness and surprisingly doesnít have a lingering bitterness. Its easy to go back for more on this one. Palate: Full bodied without a lot of lingering bitterness. Finishes a lot lighter than youíd expect for its body. Overall: A nice double IPA, but more restrained than a lot of west coast IPAs you find. Easy drinking and balanced for the style.

Bottle: Clear, deep copper, medium to thick head with great lace. Citrus aromas. Very hoppy. Just a hint of the lantana, green, rubber or resin profile. Dry, not sour and medium bitterness. Good depth and length. Refreshing for a double. Seems to be well attenuated.

PhillyCraft (3432) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 26, 2014
Poured an amber tinted orange color with small white head. Nose is berries, grapefruit, light sweet malt, and some misc resin. Flavor was most of the same with a bitter hop bit. Medium bodied with good carbonation for the style. Pretty solid offering.
