Evil Cousin is Hereticís take on a West coast imperial IPA. This beer is a bold, in-your-face hop monster. It has a light, easy drinking malt character that allows the hops to stand out. The hop character in this beer is intentionally on the dank side; big, sticky, and aggressive. This beer is for those of you who canít get enough hops. Join us on the dank side.

Bomber from Hayduke. We both enjoyed a bottle via facebook chat. This poured a tea color and was slightly cloudy. A nice beige head was nice and never completely faded. Caramel and citrus aromas came out and greeted the nose. So good! They were also tasted and were prominent. bread and biscuits. Maybe even some crackers. The bitterness is moderate. Everything here is big and balanced nicely. That was a nice trick, too. This is a very nice take on the West Coast IIPA. Another winner from Ron. He keeps sending good beers. I am challenged to send such quality back. Ron might be the best trading partner ever. EVER!

Sampled on 3/31/2012. This Imperial India Pale Ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head with nice retention and good lacing. The aroma is hoppy, citrusy and herbal, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet, tons of orange. The hops are citrusy, grapefruity and herbal. A whole lotta hops balanced with a big malt backbone. The hops are up front and the malts are in the background. Juicy hops. Medium to high bitterness IPA. Nice balance. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter.

Served in a SAVOR wine glass. I didnít write down who brought this one, unfortunately. Review to be corrected at a later date. Pours a nice amber color with a good off-white head and a bit of lacing on the way down. The nose carries some nice tropical and citrus fruits along with a bit of pine. The flavor adds loads of hop bitterness and some bready malt and a touch of sweetness. Fruit flavor there as well. Medium body with a dry finish and nice bitterness throughout. Pretty good.

I have an evil cousin. Heís gotta be like 50 now. Borderline retarded. Feeble. Probably has a body count under his trailer. That said, I like this beer much better. Pounding hops with a reasonable maltiness in there to kinda balance it out.

Really great Norcal DIPA courtesy of Baker. Not extremely hop aggressive and it reminds me a lot of Alpine in that the malt profile of the recipe is complex and a major contributor to the beer. The hops are of course amazing and dank and resinous with light orange citrus notes. Really great.

(22oz bottle) Pours a cloudy burnt orange body with a medium white head and nice webbed lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee, orange, pine, and grapefruit. Flavor of caramel, bread, grass, orange, and pine with a dry, bitter finish.

A - Pours a almost clear copper orange with a finger of frothy white head atop. The head fades down at a very slow pace leaving behind some good lace. S - Aroma is full of lots of citrus hops and grapefruit with some pine and some sweet caramel and biscuit malt. T - Starts off with some strong citrus and candied grapefruit hops with some strong bitterness and some sweet caramel malts. Through the middle some resiny pine hop comes through with some more bitterness and some biscuit malt. The finish is a mix of candied grapefruit hops and pine hops with some sweet malts and bitterness lingering. M - Medium full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a bitter and dry finish. D - Very drinkable. Really big DIPA with tons of hops. Nice hop profile, with strong bitterness throughout.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2012 Bomber. Cloudy orangish pour, large sticky white head. Piney, dank, and semi sweet aroma. Flavor is citrusy, orange peel, sweet caramel, grain, and dank hops. A balanced DIPA not over the top in any direction. Nice fresh hopiness.

Somewhat buttery; slightly burnt; citrus with rind; a bit grainy. I mean, these strong IPAs like this are kinda expected now. So, you either like it or you donít; but because of time and how style is like fashion, it just doesnít amaze me. (I donít understand how something that is big, sticky, and aggressive is also light, easy drinking?)
