2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
In short: A under-malted and over-hopped abrasive piney and grassy golden IPA. Hard to drink
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed relatively fresh a few weeks after receiving it from oakbluff, thanks a lot Scott
The look: Clear golden body topped by medium off-white head quickly dissipating to a small persistent layer of foam
In long: Nose is rather piney but also with plenty of dry grass with a spicy twist. Taste has elusive malts, light body, residual sugars without backbone. Balance is obviously not the goal here. Hop profile was like a hefty dose of chinook-like high alpha acid sandy piney hops with also a whole lot of Saaz-like dry grassy hope with a spicy edge. Iím almost certain no Saaz went into this American IPA but thatís what it tasted like. There was also a soapy edge I could have done without. Very looooonnnnnggggg after-taste. This beer didnít work for me, abrasive, not refreshing, hard to drink despite the light body, couldnít take big sips without making faces. I was very much disappointed by this one, and it is the all those disappointments caused by all the boring beers I buy that drove me into drinking, and that makes perfect sense to me.

4oz taster @ VCBW 2016 - Day 1. Big orange-tangerine flavour, heavy malty forward. Prickly piney resin in the finish. Sharp and aggressive, not rounded for an IIPA. Decent.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Aroma: High piney, citrus, resin.
Appearance: Clear, light gold body. Medium white head, rocky, good retention, lacing.
Flavour: Medium-high bitterness. Medium hops, citrus, piney. Medium malt backbone, light maltiness, bready, toasty. Dry finish with lingering resin and bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium body. Medium carbonation, creamy. Light warming.
Overall: Bitter, but it still has a good supporting malt backbone. Hops are front an center and just popping! Bitterness is a bit low, but considering the beer is a few months old, I will expect some bitterness dropping out.
355 ml can, poured. Thanks Andre!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can from B and B Beverages......pours a clear golden with a fluffy white head which lingers and laces......aroma of citrus, pine, melon.....taste is melon, peppery bittering, thick mouthfeel, citrusy, bread, finishing with a melon aftertaste. Just a bit too much oil on the lips, could stand to be dried out a bit, but a fair effort in the DIPA cat.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
355ml can at home in Richmond as íHeretic Evil Cousiní, 8.0%, 2 months since canning. Amber orange, pretty clear with a slight haze, lightly sparkling, foamy white head leaves thick lacing. Aroma is caramelised sugars, orange oil, orange boiled sweets. Body is smooth, a little foamy, soft carbonation. Taste is booze and caramelised sugars, citrus oils, tangy drying booze just about offsetting the sugary malt, pine and resin, spice and booze in the finish. Pretty simple. Notice to brewers: sweeter is not necessarily better.
