COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Evil Cousin is Heretic’s take on a West coast imperial IPA. This beer is a bold, in-your-face hop monster. It has a light, easy drinking malt character that allows the hops to stand out. The hop character in this beer is intentionally on the dank side; big, sticky, and aggressive. This beer is for those of you who can’t get enough hops. Join us on the dank side.

Only tap at DBS. Poured a dark yellow color with a decent sized head. Smells of earthy hop. Nice balance of hop and malt on this one. Great balance on the palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Zeitgeist. Pours hazy medium copper with thin creamy white head. Aroma is medium sweet caramel malt with dank earthy hops on the back. Taste is similar - big sweet dark caramel malt, decent roasty notes; then sharply bitter hops on the finish. Grassy, dark pine notes from the hops, plenty of bitterness that lingers through the finish. Still, this is a malt driven DIPA. Not bad, just plenty of superior choices in this category.

Dark gold with a nice orange cast. Large dense white head. Big pine aroma. Flavor of malt with a big resiny hops component. Great balance of hops and malt. Full bodied with a long malt/hop finish. Great DIPA!

Clear golden pour with a thin white soapy head and sticky lacing..... Aroma of dank and juicy citrus hops and light piney hops (Oranges and grapefruity) .... Taste is of juicy fruits, caramel malts, piney and dank hops with a oily slickness... Oranges and grapefruit ... Mouthfeel is oily and slick .... Finish is bitter and has a nice lingering citrusy hop .... Light booze to it and thin for a imperial IPA .... Solid and tasty stuff

Pours from bomber a hazy orange with an off white head. Aroma of hops, pine, citrus field grass and particular tropical fruits. Flavour intensely strong hempy, strong like hops, wet earth, and some wet field malt to back. Extremely brutal and uncompromising on the palate. Hoppy as hell, leaving a very dank finish. Overwhelmingly a strong and remarkable DIPA, highly recommend.

Draught at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell on 30 Jun 2012. Poured a very hazy golden, with a halo of white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, resinous hops and grain. Butterscotch in the flavour, with some biscuity malt and pine. Finish was grass, lingering resin and caramel.

bottle, from Bottle Revolution RDU, MFG date 11/03/14 lot 186. Good aroma, sweet, Citrus mainly kind of pine too. Golden orange color, good head and lace. Bitter sweet flavor. Medium body smooth creamy oily mouthfeel, bitter sweet finish. Pretty good, has a hint of a stale smoke scent I get from some hoppy beers. But good stuff overall

Bit worried about the bottling date but here goes!
Into a chalice at just on cool. Looks divine; a plume of white lifts atop a pastel, misty orange body. Fine, well conditioned carbonation fuels it and the lace it leaves behind is the work of artisans. The nose has all the olfactory tingling inklings of a heavily spiced, heavily boozy beer but a massive hop presence underlies it giving it a raw forest floor, pine needle, camphorous edge. A few more whiffs reveals plump, pale stonefruits, guava, orange, lemon balm and honey - very nice. Portrays a whole depth of fresh hops (considering my bottle is 8 months old and travelled half the planet!). The fruit of the nose here, tangy, ripe and supple with a malt matched sweetness. Whilst the alcohol is soft there is a slight hop burn to the back-end where it dries out before a lengthy fruit and malt finish. Camphor, eucalypt, grass, pine needles and nettles grip the mid-palate and dwell there long between sips. Body holds at medium-light, even as it warms, and the carbonation retains a liveliness that sees the beer race across the tongue. Bitter orange peel matches notes of honey and pear drop candy. This is a stiffly balanced beast. Wonderfully refreshing for an eight percent’er. Nice complexity to the nose matched by a wonderfully aromatic finish and tasty, contemplative palate. Loved it. Great stuff!! (65cL, Bottled 24/03/14, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)
