COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Evil Cousin is Heretic’s take on a West coast imperial IPA. This beer is a bold, in-your-face hop monster. It has a light, easy drinking malt character that allows the hops to stand out. The hop character in this beer is intentionally on the dank side; big, sticky, and aggressive. This beer is for those of you who can’t get enough hops. Join us on the dank side.

Great use of hops...and they add them by the ton. While the aroma is amazing, the lightness of the beer is a bit off for a DIPA. The ABV is completely unnoticeable - to the point that there should be more. The hop flavor doesn’t just stand infront of the malt flavor, it fully eclipses it. I would have preferred there to be a bit more malt in there...not to mute the hops, but to give it more of a appearance, palate, and abv backbone. A great NorCal hop bomb.

Vibrant amber with a med head. Smells..piney hops with a skanky apricot & citrus scent. Tastes..really piney and resinous hops, grapefruit bitterness, mild malts.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours amber orange with a fluffy 2cm of off white head. Aroma is floral and citrus hops, bit of resin. For a citra hopped beer, the tropical/citrus flavours are pretty low-key. Touch of caramel. Taste is hop forward, citrus hop flavours with a nice, rough carbonation and bitterness. Was expecting something a bit more citra-esque considering it is a IIPA, but still solid.

On tap in California - aromas are leather and wet herbs. Mouthfeel is bitter with strong alcohol, but lighter body.

Bomber from Bev4Less, Santee, CA. Pours a deep amber hue, though still has a surprisingly translucent look to it. Foam is slightly off white, and kinda sparse, but what’s there is sticky. Aromas are BIG of pine, resin, malt, resin, and maybe a touch of something like cinnamon? Who knows... probably just me. Taste is all hop-forward, followed by a balancing act between hops a the pale malts it must have required to get the ABV this high... but otherwise, this is all resin, resin, tropical fruit?!, resin, pinesol (kidding, sort of) and a nice closing balance. Have to say, this is a fine example of how this style can be done "right". Good on ya Heretic.

Sampled at DLD 2013. It poured an orange golden color with a white head. The aroma was of sweet malt, light caramel, fruity hops, peach, citrus and piney. The taste was of malt, caramel, fairly bitter fruity hops, peach, grapefruit, orangepeel and pine. Nice.

Solid IPA with fruity aroma. Pours a nice bright orange. Smells of both hops and tropical fruit. Taste is similar, a nice mix between hoppiness and fruitiness. Not too bitter of a finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very complex hop, citrus, pine, and grapefruit. Crystal clear. Great lace head. Excellent carbonation. Flavor is unreal fantastic. More is better like the commercial. I want more

Heretic is doing some great stuff, Bottle from Bytemesis Thanks, this aroma has held up remarkably well, lots of grapefruit shining through. the taste is really well balanced, though I’m not sure it was the brewers intent based on description, still a really solid IIPA and at 8% it was easy to drink.

Pours dark amber with a fading head. Massively hoppy aroma, smells like a freshly opened bag of hops. Some pine and resinous notes too, alongside sweet clean malt. Very hoppy flavours too, but there’s a fair bit of clean malt to balance things. Very resinous, with spicy hops too. Pretty tasty stuff. Spot on moderately high carbonation.
