This blood-red ale may not be what you might expect from a malty and hoppy craft beer. Evil Twin has a rich malt character, without being overly sweet. It has a huge hop character, without being overly bitter. It is a great example of a bold, rich, balanced craft beer, without being heavy and hard to drink in quantity. Our Evil Twin is only bad because it is too good to resist.

nice sandy head... good retention and lacing... the brew is polished deep amber. Nose shows plenty of big pine hops and some grapefruit zest... good balanced malt profile leaning toward caramel but still seems nicely dry. Decent bitterness up front that quickly moves into the toasty/caramel malts... hops are again more piney than anything else... but some definite citrus zest raises its head... Body and carbonation are about perfect for the style... This is very very well done... probably the best Amber that I’ve had in a LONG time. Kudos.

Can from Bottlecraft, Hanley. Pours dark ruby with a light tan head. In your face hop aroma, sweet syrup, overly hopped, alcohol warmth. Could be much better, no balance. They’ve gone overboard on this. Shame.

Backlog rating. Keg at Two Bit in BD Shoreditch, London. It pours a rich dark copper color with small tan head. Aroma is sweet and lightly boozy, with molasses, caramelized figs, orange marmalade and chocolate sponge. Taste has more malty sweetness, fruit notes, caramel, light booze. Medium to full bodied with soft to good carbonation. Overall, quite bold and sweet

Pine hops on the nose, pours dark brown , with a thin head. Quite a creamy mouthfeel, with a good malt / hop balance

Bomber from TRT. Poured a deep clear amber with an average sized foamy dense beige head. Aroma/flavor is nice, toffee and molasses sweetness, citrus, medium toast, grains and a touch dry sugar sweetness. Medium chewy body, average to just a touch carbonation. Really nice beer!

Keg in the Junkyard, Nottingham. Pours ruby with a frothy cream head. Nice pine aroma. The taste is big and bitter with spice and resinous pine over sweet stewed fruits. Nice lingering finish. Nice beer.

Bottle:   Brown sugar like color, deep reddish hue, moderate frothy sandy head, fairly clingy lacing.   Soft candied citrus peel on the nose.   Otherwise malty, a little bready, with some slight biscuit.   Pithy up front, malty, some citrus peel, slight sweetness, moderately bitter.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   As it warms it gets a little sweet earl gray tea like presense.   Otherwise a little caramel, pith and peel on the finish while remaining a little bready.   Tiz OK for a Red.   Actually kinda wished it were a bit more hoppy.
