This blood-red ale may not be what you might expect from a malty and hoppy craft beer. Evil Twin has a rich malt character, without being overly sweet. It has a huge hop character, without being overly bitter. It is a great example of a bold, rich, balanced craft beer, without being heavy and hard to drink in quantity. Our Evil Twin is only bad because it is too good to resist.

This beer has an amazing deep red beer. It has the aroma and flavor of blood orange. The hop flavors are balanced by a malty complexity. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pretty tasty. A bit too fizzy maybe, and the thin head disappears quite quickly. Darker than I expected.

Pour on tap at GABF, dark amber pour with white head, aroma brought notes of big grapefruit, orange, slight pineapple into lots of caramel, toffee, slight spicy notes in there as well with a hint of grass. Taste is a mix of caramel, toffee, lots of sweet sugars into some orange, grapefruit, sweet fruity notes, slightly bittering grass and spice notes, finishing fairly bitter.

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2015 Tap at iBrew Shinbashi. Dark red brown colour, small thin gold head. Taste is ultra hoppy, cat pee, quite earthy, bit of citrus. Aroma is same ultra hops, overwhelming cat pee. Bit of sweet maltiness there too, but almost totally hidden by hop hit. Bit of a sledgehammer. Not very subtle. Not horrible but not my thing. Brutish. Rerate: Jan 15. Bottle. Light spice, light resin hop. Nowhere near as full on as last time. Taste is malt dominated. Little bit of bitterness, bit more caramel, bit of black treacle. Brown bread. Good stuff. Hugely different score.

Pours a very unfiltered & cloudy red/brown with white head. Very hoppy smell.. Blended well with the malts & alcohol. Reminds me if a Stone anniversary beer.. 13th. Good stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

An excellent example of the style. Full bodied and balanced. Only downside is that it is a little too strong for those who would like to have a couple more!

UPDATED: APR 1, 2014 Light amber color. Very malty, dried strawberries, oranges, cherries. Moderately heavy mouth. Lots if fruit. Decent balance. Doesn’t take me anywhere special, but respectable brew.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Toffee and caramel aroma. Really light on the palate with a carbonated finish. Palate lets the beer down, but taste is there.

Tap at Tadg’s. Great nose—tangy grapefruit, amber malts. Red-brown with lace. Nice hoppy flavor, caramel, earth, grass, citrus. A good hoppy amber a la Hophead Red.

Tap at local taphouse. Pours a murky brown with a tanned head. Nose pine and grapefruit. Taste is toffee grapefruit bitterness. Really easy going stuff. Love that grapefruit chewiness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
