This blood-red ale may not be what you might expect from a malty and hoppy craft beer. Evil Twin has a rich malt character, without being overly sweet. It has a huge hop character, without being overly bitter. It is a great example of a bold, rich, balanced craft beer, without being heavy and hard to drink in quantity. Our Evil Twin is only bad because it is too good to resist.

Was looking forward to this one. Very dark red, ruby highlights bring it short of brown. Nose is rich hoppy with some malty tones - hinting the devil is in the flavour. Flavour is more powerful than the aroma. Soft, light, but rich maltiness. Huge piney hop character, classic US IPA hop profile on the malt backbone. Lovely mouthfeel with moderately assertive bitterness. Light sweetness from the crystal malts follow through nicely on the finish, but the beer is still quaffable and nowhere near cloying (more than expected after reading the label). Great beer - will be brewing Jamil’s recipe.

Draft at Eulogy. Very dark ruby black with lasting soapy tan foam. Fuller and juicier than expected. Dark red stone fruit and burnt malt and hops. Black currant, black cherry and blackberry. Chocolate liquorice. Carbob. Molasses. Charred blood oranges. Burnt toast. Easy drinking. Unusual mix of styles.

Nicely done. Deep dark red color. Heavy hops up front and thick aroma of cotton seed and hops. An interesting red delicious apple peel taste at the finish. Bottle.

Bottle. Hazy ruby, light tan cap. Aroma of spiced roasted malt, citrus, herb liquor. Taste is well balanced bittersweet. Palate is medium carbonation, chewy, and dry finish.

nice sandy head... good retention and lacing... the brew is polished deep amber. Nose shows plenty of big pine hops and some grapefruit zest... good balanced malt profile leaning toward caramel but still seems nicely dry. Decent bitterness up front that quickly moves into the toasty/caramel malts... hops are again more piney than anything else... but some definite citrus zest raises its head... Body and carbonation are about perfect for the style... This is very very well done... probably the best Amber that I’ve had in a LONG time. Kudos.

Can from Bottlecraft, Hanley. Pours dark ruby with a light tan head. In your face hop aroma, sweet syrup, overly hopped, alcohol warmth. Could be much better, no balance. They’ve gone overboard on this. Shame.

Backlog rating. Keg at Two Bit in BD Shoreditch, London. It pours a rich dark copper color with small tan head. Aroma is sweet and lightly boozy, with molasses, caramelized figs, orange marmalade and chocolate sponge. Taste has more malty sweetness, fruit notes, caramel, light booze. Medium to full bodied with soft to good carbonation. Overall, quite bold and sweet
