COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This blood-red ale may not be what you might expect from a malty and hoppy craft beer. Evil Twin has a rich malt character, without being overly sweet. It has a huge hop character, without being overly bitter. It is a great example of a bold, rich, balanced craft beer, without being heavy and hard to drink in quantity. Our Evil Twin is only bad because it is too good to resist.

Pours a very unfiltered & cloudy red/brown with white head. Very hoppy smell.. Blended well with the malts & alcohol. Reminds me if a Stone anniversary beer.. 13th. Good stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Dark color, red mahogany, with mediium sized beige head. Nice aroma, there is some caramel, light hop resins and light red grapes. The body is lean but not weak, fairly dry; it has the expected dark caramel flavor, not oppressive as in other Red Ales though, with a pinch of nuttiness, and immediately overwhelmed by a pretty powerful bitterness, a good amount of hop resins, not much hop fruitiness besides some bitter oranges.
Red IPA is not the best style around, but this one is above the average.

Love this brew. Pours a dark amber with moderate visibility. Finger of dense beige head. The aroma is sweet toffee, caramel, nuts and mild hops. Citrus, light pine, grassy notes. Sweet and rich malts balanced well with reserved hops. Citrus throughout. A bit of a boozy alcohol presence, resins are light, dry but not too lingering bitterness. A great brew.

Pours a clear reddish copper with an average but very sticky off white head and lace all up the glass. Aroma is citrus, tropical fruits, pine, brown sugar, and moderately sweet maltiness. Flavour is resin, pine, citrus, medium bitterness, brown sugar, moderately sweet maltiness and a medium dry finish.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with moderate to light head that settles quickly. Aromas of sweetened grapefruit, dark berries, pine, and brown sugar. Flavors of pine, berries, toasty malts, and bitter citrus. Bitter finish. Smells great - flavors not as much, but still very good overall

Pours clear red-tinged deep amber with two fat fingers of tan head diminishing gradually to a thick cap, moderate patchy lacing. (4/5) Nose is grapefruit, caramel malt, pine, earthy and woody tones, hint of chocolate. (7/10) Taste is mild sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, off-dry and lingering bitter finish. (4/5) “Evil Twin”? Seriously? I wonder how Jeppe feels about his brewery name being applied to a beer… Anyway, this is my first “red IPA”, so I’m not all that conversant in what it’s supposed to be. Comes across as a slightly dark, somewhat malty A/IPA, with a little red ale character. Certainly not as roasty/smokey as a black IPA, but the maltiness doesn’t come across as the malt-forward character I associate with an old IPA, or a badly-executed DIPA. I think I might prefer this style to the fast-becoming-ubiquitous black variety... (15/20)

One of the best red IPAs I have had to date. Rich malty characteristics are perfectly balanced with crisp, fresh, citrusy hops.

It pours brown with a light brown head. It has the sweet smell of dried fruit, caramel malts, a hint of citrus. It has a sweet taste with citrus and floral hops, a bit of caramel and roast. It is bitter on the way down, but not overly. It has a medium bodied texture as well.

It’s 8:44, I’m deep in the trees and light has pretty much vanished. Good thing I brought proper glassware! It poured out of a bottle so I’ll assume it looks like a beer. Light from the phone has it quite dark. +1C. I’m hitting up dark caramel, mild roast in the finish. In the dark I can hear the sound of Canadian geese wings performing their whistly song. My cold nose is also hitting up an orangy peach aroma. Mild pine and a citrus tang. This seems like the between point of a normal IPA and a black IPA. This is quite tasty but much much colder than I’d normally drink one at thanks to Mother Nature. The maltiness has won me over. 9:02 and the bomber is absorbed.

22 oz. bottle, pours a dark red with a small off-white head. Nose brings out piney and resinous hops, and light caramel to back. Flavour is well-balanced, with a good balance of piney hops and toasted caramel bready malt to balance. Hoppy and malty in good balance. Really nice.

14 karat pour with a bright ivory crown. Assertive, both in flavor and aroma. Not incredibly complex but inviting. Orange peel, tangerine pith, and lemon zest. A solid IPA...missing the ’Strong Ale’ qualities. Mis-categorized.
