Shallow Grave Porter is dark as night, perfect for a cool evening out in the woods. This a big, dark ale with a complex and rich chocolate and caramel malt character followed by a touch of warmth and light malt sweetness, leaving you ready for more after each shovelful. You will love this so much you won’t have time to dig a six-footer, so make it a Shallow Grave. We’re sure you’ll dig it.

22 oz bottle. Poured a dark brownish black pour with thin tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, some chocolate, and slight vanilla. Taste is vanilla, chocolate, coffee and graham cracker. Finish was sweet and slightly bitter.

Bottle: Dark brown color with a tan ring with a choco, licorice, date and slight berry aroma. Coffee flavors with a lingering smoky aftertaste. Much thicker than most Porters. Very tasty!

From the March 2013 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized brown head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was dry, roasty, smoky and woody. The flavor was dry and roasty with notes of anise and smoke and old school McDonalds coffee (the really bad stuff). Medium length dry McDonalds coffee finish. Medium body. Pretty awful.

Bottle from slowbeer. Nice porter, quite alcoholic. Aromas of amonia, chocolate, and caramel. Taste is sweet, with long length. Palate is velvety, fizzy, and medium bodied. Dark brown, with a disappearing head.

On draught at Congregation, Long Beach. Good solid dark brown with a good tan head that leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, fig, dark plum, mocha. Creamy mouthfeel, full bodied, sweet on the palate, hint of bitter chocolate on the finish. Slight spicy hop presence in the aftertaste. Taste is chocolate, hint of toast coffee, grains of paradise, graham crackers. Enjoyable.

A really solid and good porter. the first beer from Heretic that I’ve tried. Has chocolate and espresso in the aroma and a full bodied palate that isn’t heavy.

22oz bottle, from Trooper for a locals swap. First brew from heretic, wow this is good stuff, a really solid porter, only lacking in palate to me, and maybe a bit of hop profile but still a really darned good porter quite the surprise.

Good beer. Nice aroma like chocolate coffee with hopps. Good carbonation. Lite brown head almost black in color. Chocolaty malt taste not to sweet. Good
