3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Dark black with no head, although it had been open for an hour when I poured it and the boys thought it was over carbonated on initial opening. Simplistic coffee, chocolate, cola and alcohol aromas. More complex flavour profile, encompassing chocolate, cherry cola and molasses leading into a roasted coffee and smoke finish. Beautiful thick, luscious mouth feel. In celebration of the birth of my mates first daughter, Avalee.

Tasting at Bruce’s Pad. Thanks to Colin. Opaque black - brown beer, good mid-tan head. Airy palate. Mildly tangy dark malts. Touch of lactose. That’s about it. A pretty dull porter.

Light to medium sweet flavor with charred toast, burnt earth, mild tangy berries, moderate roast. Medium bodied with fine to average, massaging carbonation. Bittersweet cocoa on the finish with further dark bread, earth, burnt wood. Not bad.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is earthy, toast, cocoa, milk chocolate, dirt, almost oxidised nose and a touch of soy sauce. The taste is roasty, toast, watery, charred wood, ash, cocoa, soy sauce and peppery spice with a dry finish. Light-medium body and average carbonation. Pretty watery. Not real depth to it.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at dig beer baR. Fat pruney and burnt rubber phenolic nose. Translucent brown color. Rubber bands, chocolate, and wine-soaked raisins. Thin-medium body. This is thin, watery, and way too phenolic. The bar owner at Dig is well-known for taking good care of beer lines and serving beers in good condition. But I suspect that this one is not at its peak.
