From a 650ml bottle on 15/7/2012 (shared with Butz - thanks). Pours close to black with a smallish head. Has a strong aroma of chico baby and milk chocolate. The flavour is very sweet with lots more milk chocolate, some roasty malt, and a touch of caramel. Has a slightly thin texture. Nicely balanced, with just a enough bitterness to keep the sweetness in check. A very solid porter.

6/25/12 notes: bomber, $5.99. Aroma very bready, malty, toasted oats; broad. Flavor has nice balance of dark chocolate, breadiness, mild essence of plum. All very well integrated, finishes dry but with subtly chocolate malt, honey sweetness. Very well crafted and delicious.

Has some really nice roast notes with woody character scents. Taste is some really nice oak/wood flavors with some nice blending smokey characters. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

650ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a moderate tan head which fades fairly quickly and does not leave much lacing. Dark chocolate and hazelnut notes combined with a lighter, slightly fruity sweetness make up the nose. The hops are quite strong for a porter, with mild citrus and spice notes up front. These give way to a rich, smooth blend of dark chocolate, slightly bitter cocoa and hazelnut. There is a slightly lighter note of caramel towards the end and a smooth milk chocolate finish. This is a nice porter, and great on a freezing winter night.

22 ounce bottle. Pours a almost pure black color with a small off-white head after a bit. The aroma is light chocolate and roast notes. The flavor is nice: vanilla and coffee beans, lighter milk, roast, metallic hops, very smooth. A nice brew, spot on for the style. A bit earthy for sure. This would be amazing on cask.

Poured into a Nonic. Smells of chocolate, rich and sweet cocoa, perhaps a hint of vanilla extract, and just the slightest touch of raisin. Splash of char/coffee. Malt and yeast are more or less neutral. Nearly pitch black with some ruby highlights in the light. Off white head that dies down to a layer of foam on top. Head isn’t impressive at first, but the retention is quite good. No lacing though. A bit dryer than the nose would suggest, and definitely more roasty. Baker’s cocoa, chewy dark malts with a lightly coffee like roasted malt character, then a touch of indistinct dark fruits. Dry, smooth carbonation, medium bodied. Spot on. Definitely gonna get this again. Wish I could try it on cask. I wouldn’t go too far out of my way to try it, but if you like porters, it’s a good one.
