3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A very good porter. Pours an amazing deep black, with almost no head. Can't see anything through it. Smells of nuts and caramel. Taste is very chocolate and caramel, with a slightly sweet aftertaste. Very good. Had in the bottle.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber bottle and served in Stone IRS snifter: Medium brown hue with some amber and ruby highlights topped by a fizzy head and minimal lace. The aroma has notes of a developing lactic character and some soapy off-notes too. You can still find some chocolate, hazelnut, toast, bread, fig and tobacco vapours. The taste is more of the same, developing lactic sourness over sweet cocoa and nut bread. Some ripened fruit and earthy tobacco notes. The mouth feel is too carbonated and ashy, does improve as the beer warms. Overall, a big disappointment based on what I was told about this beer and brewery. While still drinkable at this moment, the oncoming lactic nature is off-putting. (bottled in 04.16.12 so it is a bit long in the tooth)

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very dark brown, nearly black, little head. Lots of chocolate on the nose with some coffee. Chocolate comes first in the palate, followed closely by light coffee and a somewhat bitter roasted finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAR 2, 2013 Deep brown-black body, with a moderate sized khaki head. Spotty lacing. Nose consists of a healthy dose of chocolate and some accompanying roasted malts. Flavor is similar with the addition of some caramel. Medium to full bodied, smooth, gentle carbonation, light earthy bitterness, fairly sweet.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours inky black. Smells of melted bitter chocolate. Tastes impossibly sweet on the first sip and then the rest of the flavours (other than milk chocolate) make their way through. Very chocolatey porter

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
650ml bottle. Pours as black as a deep grave and carries a bubbling foam head. There are hints of vanilla, aniseed and licorice in the aroma. Full flavoured and thick and rich in the mouth with a nice long aftertaste. Probably the best porter I have had.
