4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Currently drinking a bottle from Beers of Europe. Aroma is full of rich, dark, roasted malts with sweet chocolate. Appears as a black vessel with a short lived pillowy tan head on top. Tastes of sweet chocolate, rich roasted flavours, caramel malts and a herbal hop finish which adds to the solid dark chocolate bitterness. Silky smooth on the tongue, not too heavy but not too light either, very slight oily texture with a soft tingly carbonation. No doubt at all that this is a very tasty drop, would happily drink this again, and again, and again, and again....

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
640ml bottle 12.03.12
Deep dark brown body, tan head holds as a small ring.
Decent aroma packed full of dark chocolate, nuts, toffee, and dark fruits.
Full bodied, quite chewy and creamy, not as thick as abv would imply.
Body continues with plenty of dark malts; chocolate, toasted nuts, burnt caramels with subtle plummy undertones and boozy warmth on a reasonably bitter finish.
Pretty good, rich yet not overly so.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Dark black with no head, although it had been open for an hour when I poured it and the boys thought it was over carbonated on initial opening. Simplistic coffee, chocolate, cola and alcohol aromas. More complex flavour profile, encompassing chocolate, cherry cola and molasses leading into a roasted coffee and smoke finish. Beautiful thick, luscious mouth feel. In celebration of the birth of my mates first daughter, Avalee.

Tasting at Bruce’s Pad. Thanks to Colin. Opaque black - brown beer, good mid-tan head. Airy palate. Mildly tangy dark malts. Touch of lactose. That’s about it. A pretty dull porter.
