COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A tartuffe (tar-TOOF) is a hypocrite who feigns religious virtue. Heretic’s Tartuffe is our take on a Berliner Weisse-style ale. Our head brewer has a thing for this beer style. He loves the tart, refreshing character that comes from using lots of wheat malt and a multi-day sour mash. Try it by itself or mit schuss, the traditional German addition of raspberry or woodruff syrup. Either way, enjoying life is a true virtue.

22oz, no date for $6.49 at Olive Tree Market in OB. Hazy straw with a small white head, low retention. Pretty lactic lemony nose with some minerals and stale saltine crackers, as well as wheat. Flavor isn’t as tart as I thought it’d be, but the cracker and wheat don’t sweeten it, either. It has the malt of a Budweiser, though just a little stronger. Dry finish, sourness peaked at a 3-4. Low prickly carbonation with a lightish body. Not bad, just an OK Berliner.

Bottle through trade, very pale straw color with no head. Aroma of lemon and wheat, taste has some lemon tartness and finishes rather bland almost metallic. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

C lear golden color with a fleeting white head. Sourdough, lactic, lemon citrus aromas. Light body with average co2. Mild to medium acidic, tart flavors of lemon, lactic, with mild wheat---needs more wheat====not bad tho

Mostly on track with respect to the style. Lemon, tart fruits and a little acid but does fall flat in the back palate. Styles like these really do need a decent whack of sourness and acid right through the palate.

Hazy yellow pour with a thin white head. Nose is lemon and a touch floral. This beer is tart, but by no means mouth puckering, nor should it be for the style. Lemon is what I get the most, it’s fairly simple (in a good way). I am enjoying this beer quite a lot!

650ml bottle fromThe Wine Emporium. Pours a very pale yellow colour with a lick of white foam that vanishes quickly. In the glass this beer is a bit hazy and has some fruity melon aromas. Tart and a bit flat in the mouth. Not as tart as I was expecting. Light in the mouth and on the palate.

22 oz. bottle shared by Keir. Pours a pale yellow color with some floaters and no head. The aroma is basic: metal, pale malts, syrup, and straw, with a little bit of vomit emerging upon warming. Flavor of lemon, metal, pale malts, syrup, and straw. Light-bodied, with a tart, metallic mouhtfeel and moderate carbonation. Really weak take on the style.

Nice, easy Berliner Weiss. Not great. Tart, fruity, not complex. Simple beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle poured into glass. Big thanks to MikeLovesBeer for sharing this. Light body with a slight tartness to it. Fruit lingers on the back end, mostly lemon. Pretty tasty.

Bottle from Hollingshead. Pours a light yellow to orange with very small white lacing head. Aroma is yogurt, tart lemon and cream. Taste is lime, wheat, a slight sour bite 3/4 of the way through the taste. Overall, a very refreshing berliner. Could drink more of this camping in the summer.
