A tartuffe (tar-TOOF) is a hypocrite who feigns religious virtue. Hereticís Tartuffe is our take on a Berliner Weisse-style ale. Our head brewer has a thing for this beer style. He loves the tart, refreshing character that comes from using lots of wheat malt and a multi-day sour mash. Try it by itself or mit schuss, the traditional German addition of raspberry or woodruff syrup. Either way, enjoying life is a true virtue.

Slightly hazy golden yellow with a quickly dissipating head. Aromas of grain, lactic acid and a hint of sulfur. Crisp, light body, that is insanely refreshing. Perfect tang of lemony sourness with just a hint of fruitiness (orange). Clean, dry finish. Great job keeping the lactic acid in check. A perfect summer quencher that reminds me of my week in Berlin!

a foamy white head dies back pretty quickly leaving little lacing... the brew is traditional looking very pale straw golden that sorta glows with a light haze. Nose is tart and shows plenty of wheat character... Flavor is nicely lactic.... softened a bit by the malt profile... lemony and a bit of cracker.... Body may be a touch high for the style... could use more carbonation. I liked this one.... The label says a sour mash is used... More complex than my feeble palate can describe.

A little too grainy and not enough tart for me. An ok beer, but pretty low in the ranks of Berliners.

22 oz bottle dated 6/25/2012. Letís see if age helps this thing out. Aroma is fairly dull. Light what and grain notes with a light lactic acidity. Hints of citrus and yogurt. Light stone fruit character. Pours a slightly hazy, pale yellow, straw color with a moderately sized, thin white head that quickly recedes to the edges. No lacing or legs. Flavor is rather disappointing. Just a light hint of acidity up front; I have had more acidic Saisons. Light make and what notes with hints of citrus and stone fruit. No bitterness. Mouthfeel is light bodied and slightly water with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really not nice Berliner with only faint acidity. This clearly did not get more acidic with age. It also send to lack charger and carbonation.

Sampled at esbls. A little tart and malty. Just a little zing in that fruit. Light and easy drinking fare. Nice summer stuff.

Aroma: very faint lemon and light grains. Appearance: light yellow, no head. Flavor: light lemon character, some light malt notes, refreshing, a bit of a sharp grain husk bite in the finish. Palate: light/thin body, medium carbonation.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2013 Bottle: golden yellow, light hazy; pretty good clarity for a Berliner. No head, even with a tough pour. Aroma smells almost like nothing. Very faint lemon graininess? Even then... Psh. Smells like water almost. Taste isnít much more exciting. Little bit of grains. Mild lemon zest. And a lot more of nothing... So subdued. Barely any flavor or tartness. Easy drinking but it tastes like nothing.

Bottle: The aroma is incredibly light with hints of grass and maybe lemon. Iím really searching to come up with an aroma. It pours a transparent dull yellow with a small white head that quickly fades to a few stray bubbles before it eventually looks still. The flavor starts with has some faint lemon and just a hint of grass. The flavor is incredibly light. Itís light bodied with light-moderate carbonation. Overall, there simply isnít much here.

Bomber from Bev4Less. Pours a clear golden wheat hue, with literally almost no foam head. Some bubbles race up the sides of the glass, but not for long. Aroma is understatedly tart and fruity. Almost smells like a patersbier. Taste is clean, fruity, and tart. And, as other raters have indicated, light on... just about every aspect. The extra tart-sweet fruity kick in the late palate is a saving grace, otherwise this would be a fairly nondeScript offering. Odd for Jamil...

On tap at Gourmet Haus. Pours a hazy yellow with white head that quickly faded. Nice tartness and lemon throughout both the aroma or flavor. Nice and refreshing.
