3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Extremely enjoyable beer. Pours a mahogany brown with a finger or so of creamy light beige head. The aroma is rich and luxurious with light earthy notes, toffee, nuts, prunes, raisins and cinnamon coming through. Sweet toffee, nuts and caramel malts up front with prominent prunes and raisin notes, light cherry as well. Rich and heavy on the finish with a light spicy ester note. Warm and boozy on the finish including a typical Belgian yeast aftertaste. Good brew.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
650 ml bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with full head. Aromas of brown sugar, toasted malts and a little copper. Flavors of golden raisins, toasty malts, burnt sugar, a little orange and again some copper notes. Hot. On style though a little light overall.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A nice take on a specialty Belgian from California, USA. Wax sealed bottles are always something special. Has a dark brown pour, thin fizzy tan head with no lacing. It’s good, bur you can definitely tell this isn’t an official trappist brew from some of the smaller touches like the head/lacing and the balance of flavours. Has some nice dark fruits, spices, etc but seems a bit overly sweet for a dark Belgian with a high ABV.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
650ml bottle pours amber brown in color with a 2 finger light tan head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel with some dark fruits and hints of chocolate. Taste is a caramel, fruity and light chocolate malty sweetness with a mild herbal hop bitterness. Medium bodied with good carbonation that pleases the palate. Overall, a quality crafted brew that suits the style really well and tastes great.

22oz bottle. Reddish Brown pour with lots of lacing. Medium brown sugar and dark fruit nose. Dark fruit, caramel and brown sugar flavors of plums. A little sweet. It lacks Belgian yeast flavors. Some earthyness. A little burn in the finish. Not bad, would rather be drinking a real Belgian Dark strong.

Tap at Dig. GLowing orange-brown, clear, slightly lacy. Boozy nose--gin? With plums, orange, a bit of metal. Meaty malt flavor, booze, roange, chocolate, booze, caramel, raisin, stewed peaches. Too young, and a bit light, but shows a lot of promise.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Dig’s Tochigi Beer Week Event. Now this was a luscious beer! Heretic Torment 10% Belgian dark Ale pours a ruby cola pour with a surprisingly herbal nose that gives me oregano & dark malts. The taste is big bready dark malts, some fudge + banana really tasty & smooth. Good stuff.

Bottled: shared with Shig. Poured clear mahogany with an off white head. Aroma has dark fruit plums, raisin, dates and belgium candy sugar. A complex of rich malty fruity notes overwelm the palate finishing hot in the stomach. Top notch beer!
