Pretty palatable for a dark, but a little weak compared to most others. But decent. They try to make a fine beer and this beer is, well, fine, I suppose.

Originally rated August 2004. Tried this beer for the first time at Zaphod’s in Ottawa, on tap, a few years ago. Was blown away ! Now I buy it in a 6 pack of stubbies. I have also bought this beer in a 20 litres and 50 litres for poker nights. Pours a dark amber-red colour with a medium beige head. Small amount of lacing. Low carbonation, but a good malt scent. Starts with a fruity-sweet taste and finishes with a mild bitter bite. Still prefer this one on tap. This brew kills the other one, Premium Lager, that they make. One of my favorite session beer.

Pretty solid delivery here. Malty, oily in the mouth. Delivers what it promises.

Malty beer with a pronounced nutty flavour. Drinkable lager but nothing remarkable about it. The Scotch Irish line from Heritage is superior to those beers released under its own name.

341 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear dark copper/amber with small off-white head. Malty aroma with caramel, candyish fruit and nuts. Taste is quite sweet and malty with caramel, fruit and light nuttiness. Lingering sweetness in finish; fairly syrupy feel. Ok though a little too sweet.

Bottle. Pours a deep copper/brown with an average off-white head. Aromas of sweet malts, nuts, and caramels. Taste is sweet with the caramel and malts coming through. Hints of hops and nuts and perhaps a bit woody. Not very bitter and the sweet is okay but too sugary. A decent lager.

Bouteille 341 ml. 4.5%. Couleur rousse assez claire. Arômes de malt et caramal. En bouche, assez mince et aqueuse. Notes de caramel, légèrement de noix et peu de malt. Correct mais décevante.

Fruity, light nutbrown color, malty, velvety, but still light-bodied. Tasted in a bottle at the brewery.

Received in a trade. Seemed really cloudy so I set it in the fridge for a week. Big psssst from the bottle when opening. Almost thought it was going to foam out of the bottle. Poured a glass of foam that kept rising. Taste of the foam and it is very bad. Sour infected beer. A full sip of the liquid confirms that this is not drinkable.

Tap at Volo - unlike a certain good fellow I did not feed my pint to the nearby potted Chrysanthemums LOL. House yeast character is notably present, making this an earthy, uneasy sweet light-tasting dark lager of a herbal character - it reminds me more of any given bad dark ale from Ontario. Dilute. Simplistic sweet toasted malts. As the man watering the flowers with this beeralready mentioned, the hops are neither prominent, nor of any notable character.
