3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 thewolf (8652) - Kolding, DENMARK - NOV 9, 2011
Bottle, bought @ Achelse Kluis, Belgium. Slight hazy pale yellow with a small, staying, creamy, white head. Aroma is fruity, green apple, some melon, esters, crispy doughy malts. Oranges, light vinious. Quite pleasant, really. Highish carbonation, okay dry and light creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is light metallic at first, soft sweetness, apple peel, oranges. Very dry and bitter for a Belgian tripel. I like it.

Very dense & fine, light-yellow head over metallic-yellow beer. Dry-spicy, loam; lightly toasted malts, very discreet. Very dry-bitter flavour, strange vegetable bitterness, like celeriac, but less sweet. Again - loam. Well-attenuated, medium bodied, spritzy-burning at swallowing. Very special taste... but far from bad.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, pale golden colour with a blond, dense and tall foamy head. Yeasty malty, slightly wheaty aroma with a citric vinous touch and spicy notes. Moderately sweet and bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Yeasty and spicy taste with notes of citrus; sweet-bitter malty finish with citrus/lemon and a tinge of alcohol. 13.III.11

Bottle picked up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie, 01.10.10 consumed 16.10.10 Pours gold, throwing a slight haze, thin white bubbly head. The aroma is a touch farmy, actually touch saison like. Soft and fizzy in mouth, pleasant Tripel with a slight lemony streak running through it, dry & softly bitter in the finish, I like this. The pour is a gushing, very hazy, copper-honey color with a full, white, fluffy head which settles to a very thin, rocky layer and leaves scattered lace. The nose is sugary, herbal, white pepper, light citrus, and a slight agave note? The flavor is similar with a sagey herbal note, some tart citrus, light sugar, and doughy/dusty yeast. The palate is nearly lively, medium, drying, and creamy. The finish is still herbal and sugary, with just traces of the yeast and citrus notes. Probably past it’s prime but still interesting enough with the unique herbal notes. Decent tripel.
