Floral and malt aromas. Golden coloured a little rich on the palate and fruity with a crisp and slightly dry malt finish.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 21, 2007
On tap at the brewpub, June 2007. Not the most typical Altbier. For a start it is rather pale for the style - more amber than copper. Second, there’s a quite pronounced grassy hop character that outweighs the malt, which is mild and biscuity. Decent enough.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 BückDich (5467) - McCall, Idaho, USA - OCT 5, 2007
Draft @ Brewpub: Copper, light head and nice lacing. Nose of clean malt, light yeast and plum, a balanced semi-dry alt, but musky and dry in the finish.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dickinsonbeer (5075) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUL 3, 2007
This one is not bad for an alt. Pours a light copper clear and good off white head retention. Hoppy noble hop aroma , a bit grassy, and some light toasty malts and hints of caramel. Crisp clean hoppy flavor, solid malt backbone- and a nice crisp spicy and herbal hop finish. Definitely on the hoppy side even for an alt, but nice.

Sampled at ABR 07 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Pours a clear coppery amber (slightly lighter than the oktoberfest) with a thin and good retaining off-white head that has some good lacing. Aroma of dry multi-grain malt, some grassy hops and a touch of dark pitted fruits. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with a dry multi-grained biscuity malt flavor. Finish is slightly gritty, dry with a grassy hop and grain malt aftertaste.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - NOV 26, 2006
Draught pint at the brewpub, early October 2006. Medium maple color with a small head and a trace bit of lacing...faint, weak grassy-caramel aroma is pleasant but takes a lot of effort to get much from....lightly spicy body, caramel and a bit of woody-twiggy hops, lightly sticky mouthfeel, clean and very quaffable but never exciting, faint hints of baked fruit help out.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 badgerben (4116) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - NOV 11, 2004
Dark copper color with a thin head. A little malt in the aroma, but not much. Woody taste with a little smoke as well. A little malt, but very mild. Tasty enough, but I don’t think it’d be a great example of an Alt.

On tap @ Herkimer. Fairly dark red orange appearance with an orangish tan head. Fairly hoppy, amber malty nose. Somewhat hoppy, bland amber malty flavor.

The best of the four I tried in one night. Light malt and hop aroma. Mild, pleasant grain in the flavor with a a nice malt and hop balance. Medium body. Roasted grain finish.
