COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This winter warmer boasts sweet roasted characteristics on the front end followed by the bitterness of sweetened dark chocolate on the back.

Had this on tap at the pub, so maybe I got a different batch than the others? I actually thought it was pretty good. Dark pour with the minimal off-white head. Faint roasty aroma. Flavor is a bit more pronounced. Roast, chocolate, but stays on the bitter end of the flavor spectrum. A little thinner than I would have liked, but overall a nice beer.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a deep brown, with a tan head. Nice smokey malt flavors of caramel and coffee, balanced by lingering hop finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From tap at the brewpub. Pours black, deep amber glare with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted dark malty and breadish, light liqourice. Dark roasted malty and bitter. Liqourice and smooth dark malty. Lingering liqourice finish.

Minnesota Winterfest 2013. Dark brown color with a small head. Strong grainy aroma. Flavor is nearly all grainy, almost like an adjunct. Starting to border on souring.

Winterfest, 2013. Something went wrong here. I am used to the Herkimer bringing outstanding beers to Winterfest, like their smoked doppelbock, or the triple bock. This year, they put out no effort at all. This thin and watery Baltic porter has some flavor of roasted grain but that is it. Light, no complexity, and hardly any flavor at all. Baltic Porter is a style I look for but this is a bad attempt, and I know these guys can do better.

On tap at Winterfest 2013. Muddy brown pour with limited head. Best of the group from the Herk, but they didnít really bring the heat to this event.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Tap at Winterfest 2013. Mahogany pour. Chocolate, with some sweet berry in here. Decent brew.
