3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 adnielsen (3102) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 23, 2011
On tap @ Herkimer. Ruby orange appearance with a light tan head. Sweet caramel malty bock nose. Slightly nutty, caramel malty bock. Smooth malty finish. Easy drinking but maybe a little weak and a little boring.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 DalzAle (1336) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - MAR 19, 2010
On tap tonight. Dark amber red/brown, little carbonation and heavy malt sweetness. Flavor was also heavy, sweet malt, caramel, a little hops and finished thick and coating. Just ok.
1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 JK (3398) - Uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 11, 2009
One of the worst bocks I have ever had. Very dry and bitter. Some hops. No caramel or any other sweet flavors, but kind of a vegetable/plant matter character. This recipe needs to be entirely redone.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Skyview (4737) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - FEB 7, 2009
On draught during Winterfest 2009 in St Paul, MN. Pours a semi-hazy caramel amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, some light chocolate, some pear/fruit, and a touch of floral hops. Taste is medium bodied, flavors of mild caramel malt, floral hops and some toffee. Finish is slightly metallic with a thin caramel and fruity aftertaste.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 BVery (1966) - Burnsville, Minnesota, USA - FEB 2, 2009
TAP: at the Herkimer on 2.1.09. Pours a clear red/brown, very mild aroma. A little bit of malt in the taste, but pretty bland. Not a great bock.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 detroiter (958) - Euphoria, Minnesota, USA - JAN 27, 2007
The beer is a very clear reddish brown or deep copper color, topped by two inches of soft and fluffy light tan foam. Moderately effervescent with good head retention, leaving plenty of webby lace. Awesome dry toasted malt aroma, also a little fruity.
Plentiful toasted malt throughout with a bit of dry chocolate malt up front. The chocolate flavor almost completely disappears after the first sip, but if you wait a bit between glasses, it returns in the first sip of your next glass. The finish provides a subtle fruit flavor, a bit of oak, and hop bitterness for balance. The toasted malt and hops blend for a long, pleasant aftertaste.
Medium body, prominent carbonation
