COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The strongest and most rare offering from the Herkimer. At 23% ABV, this is no normal beer; but Japanese Sake yeast tames the alcohol to create sweet dark fruit and rich cocoa tones that swirl into a warming sweet bite at the end. A rare beer that blends ingredients from across the globe to make a flavor like none other.

From the tap at Winterfest, 2012. Aroma of port and sweet white wine. A sweet, rich beer. Thick palate. Malt, sugar, and some pear, almost like a liqueur. One of the highlights of Winterfest this year.

On tap at brewpub, pours a dark brown/black with an amber hue and sparse bubbly head. Aroma of brown sugar, chocolate, plums, figs, very sweet. Taste similar to aroma, sake yeast is very evident masking the alcohol perfectly. Wow, if you’re into sake this is dangerously drinkable, very nice!

Pour on tap at Winterfest 2012, pour was thick oily black with no head at all, aroma brought big boozy notes but has nice chocolate, port, caramel and deep toffee, hints of slight spice and odd notes that I can only attribute to the sake yeast. Taste was thick and rich but had enough carbonation to get through it, hints of port, dark chocolate, very sweet caramel and dark fruit notes, hints of a wine like note for sure, but a definite warming and boozy finish. Good, but hard to drink much of.

Sampled this at Winterfest last night. A wonderfully boozy and malty beer with lots of dark fruit notes and complexity.

Minnesota Beer #600. Minnesota Winterfest 2012. Black color with no head. Chocolate aroma with some soy sauce notes. Chocolatey flavor. Dark caramel. Boozy for sure. Light port notes.
