2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 rmussman (1383) - USA - FEB 7, 2012
Sampled in a big bottle. Pours with no head and a light brown color to the beer. Absolutely flat. Malts are decent in flavor and hops are mild and really recessed. Nice brew overall.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BMan1113VR (6531) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAR 30, 2012
Bottle. Pours with a clear, copper-orange hued body with a fading white head. Aromas are sweet, cherry, cough syrup, mild esters, alcohol, prunes, caramel, pears and very mild DMS. Flavors are alcoholic and very sweet (bordering on cloying), raisins, pears, prunes, plums and other esters. Some candy sweetness. Bitterness is high for the style and more than balances. Syrupy with medium carbonation.
The best of the 1 door series.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bb (4887) - Alamo, California, USA - DEC 27, 2011
Bottle. Amber beer with a dark cream colored head. caramel and yeast aroma. Caramel and grapefruit flavor with yeast and alcohol. Medium bodied. Caramel and grapefruit lingers with yeast and spice. Quad meets an IPA?
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 wavers1 (859) - Notown, California, USA - DEC 20, 2011
ummmmm...... did i miss something here??? this doesnt really look, smell, taste or drink like a quad. a tripel at best maybe. very light colored amber orange pour. looks like an ipa. some spicyness and phneols there, not a terrible beer overall but really in no way is this a quad.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Fatalstrike (129) - Cerritos, California, USA - DEC 1, 2011
Let’s see if they did any better this time around. Aromas are more reminiscent of a belgian strong golden ale or triple than a quad. Some spice and maltiness. Pours a light amber/orange. Some short lasting soda like foam. Flavor is fairly malt heavy, but not the super sweet bomb I was expecting. There is some pleasant spice on this one. Fairly low carbonated and somewhat syrupy. Finish has some definite booze to it. Overall not a terrible beer. For the price($3.50) it exceeded my expectations, and is definitely one of the better offerings from Hermitage/Tied House.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 mjg74 (2139) - La Mesa, California, USA - NOV 22, 2011
Bomber from BevMo. Very clear copper with a hint of red. strong yaesty aroma. Some dark fruit. a slight hint of candy sugar and alcohol as well. Very rich and sweet up front. Some fig in there as well. Some hops in the finish. Quite clean and well done. Definitely the best Hermitage beer I’ve tried. Respectable quad.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bhensonb (7589) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 17, 2011
Bottle from the Folsom BevMo. Pours medium copper with a slight off-white head. The aroma is rich. Touch of candy. Fruit. Med plus body. Flavor is hard to pin down. After a bit kandi is clearly present. Almost a toffee touch. Then it’s like a mix of ripe stone fruits - heat is not detectable in the mouth or throat, but the alcohol vapor is eyeball detectable I think. Going straight to the brain on an empty stomach. This is a heck of an impressive beer for the price. I’m starting to imagine a touch of darker fruit. Given time I think I could imagine almost anything about this beer.
