The flavors are so big in this Imperial Stout, they barely fit in the bottle. The wallop of Chocolate, Black Currents & Coffee makes this one Phat Beer. Named for the large amount of hops in the recipe, this fat beer will make you jolly with each sip.

Bottle shared at chriso’s Easter 2015 tasting - London. Cheers to Fergus for sharing this one. Pours oily black-brown with a frothy tan head. The nose holds chalky cocoa, milk chocolate, light roast. Medium sweet flavor with modest earthy bitterness, dusty milk chocolate. Light to medium bodied, creamy, with average carbonation. Ashy roast in the finish, cocoa, earth, faint raisin. Not bad.

Bottle. Moderate toasted and strong coffee for the malt, light to moderate resin for the hops, light earth for the yeast, and tar in the background. Head is small, frothy, brown with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily with a soft carbonation, and a finish that’s chalky, dry and lightly astringent. A tasty deep and dark Imperial Stout, but just not as complex as I would’ve liked.

ChrisOs Easter Tasting. Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Airy dark malts. A touch of paint, like it was barrel aged. Mild dry dark chocolate. Light dry finish with a dark chocolate linger. A bit chewy but okay.

Bottle at ChrisO, thanks to Fergus. It pours jet black with a decent tan head. The nose is earth roast, chocolate, mild acidity, bounty bar and salted caramel. The taste is roasted malt, earth, toast, ash, charred stuff, savoury feel and pepper with a drying finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Rather savoury... and not terribly drinkable.So-so.

Bottle share at ChrisO’s. Black, small foamy brown head. Aroma is mostly liquorice, liquorice allsorts, molasses, light chocolate. Body is medium, foamy, low carbonation. Taste is light biscuity malts, thin coffee sweets, caramel. OK, light flavour. Not an impy in my book.
