COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The flavors are so big in this Imperial Stout, they barely fit in the bottle. The wallop of Chocolate, Black Currents & Coffee makes this one Phat Beer. Named for the large amount of hops in the recipe, this fat beer will make you jolly with each sip.

bottle thanks to bhensonb. poured a really menacing black with a frothy chocolate brown head leaving some lacing of the glass behind. aroma was chocolate, coffee, and some slight dark fruits. flavor was coffee, chocolate, and a slight earthy/grassy type thing going on. body was medium-heavy with low carbonation and a dry bitter finish. really a very nice impy that is not over the top.

A really hearty thick stout. Really enjoyed. Not up to some of the bigger breweries but this was a great effort for a small brewery and had really quality roasted flavors.

In bottle at Craig’s. A black beer with a tan head that dies away early. Aroma of chocolate, honey and coffee. Similar flavours with alcohol quite present. Mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Nice.

Half liter bottle pours dark darkness with chocolaty mocha like head. The modest aroma has dark roasted malts mixing with muted spicy black licorice, molasses and a faint note of slightly singed toffee. The taste lacks a bit of body but delivers rich dark roasted malts, dark roasted coffee, a bit of burnt malts and then some yummy chocolate around the edges. It does have a sense of mineral earthiness that distracts a bit from the experience. All in all a tasty treat.

500mL bottle, no date from Mission Valley BevMo! Black with a small creamy dark mocha head, fading to a thick ring and swirling head. Big dark fruit and prune nose with some semi-sweet chocolate and caramel, and some roast backing with a bit of oxidation. Pretty dessert-y. Flavor has less sweet fruits at first, and a good deal more roast. Big burnt ashy roast in the dry finish, bitterness peaked at a 4. Also getting a touch of pine. Low prickly carbonation with a full body.

Dark in color. Rich and roasty nose. Some good coffee aromas. Rich flavored. Roasted coffee with just the lightest hint of chocolate. Finish has a hint of a hop bite. Good stout.

Bottle at Paul’s tasting. Pours a crimson tinged black with a touch of a tan head. Lots of plum and prune notes, oxidized, malt and roast, chocolate. Medium bodied, sweet with roast and chocolate, this out. Light bitterness and more oxidization on the finish.

bottle from bevmo 2.99. 2/7/11. thin pour but dark... blackish with a soft orange tinted head. candy aroma initially... roasty, grapes, cherry, nuts, caramel, lactose, choco, spice and minty herbal hops. theres a bit of molasses in the flavor along with mild smoke, dark vinous fruit, choco, spice, caramel and herbaceous hops with a light sour finish and ashy aftertaste. it is light bodied for the style (but it is barely imperial) but extremely quaffable and a definite surprise compared to everything else this brewery has to offer. there’s a lot of hyped i.s. that aren’t this good... 7/3/7/3.5/16
