4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A rich and deep amber colored brew with a thin off white head. The nose is massive grapefruit and sweet peanuts. There is also some toast and a pleasant floral character. This tastes of fairly bitter piney, especially in the finish. The hop resin lingers for a long time. Strong notes of wood are certainly present along with hints of ash. The taste of the bitter hops absolutely overwhelms the malt character. After a little more drinking, bits of citrus begin to shine through. This is a very bitter brew, but somehow it comes across as more refined and balanced than most IIPAís. This is very well done.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours amber with two fingers of foamy white head. Lots of pine and no citrus in the aroma. Fairly bitter but not overbearing. Somewhat malty and full mouthfeel. Nice beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from bottle into pint glass.
Aroma: I got a lot of pine on this one, with just a hint of citrus behind, and maybe a hint of grapefruit. Very little alcohol on the nose.
Appearance: Pours a very clear straw color, no yeast occlusion and a slightly chunky 2 finger head. Minimal lacing.
Taste: This DIPA is right up my alley, honestly. Very little of that East Coast sweetness clouding the heavy malt bill. I get a bit of biscuit, and a hint of nuttiness too. The bitterness on this DIPA is just about right too, if not a bit low. The hops taste like what you would expect from the nose, with earthy pine dominating. Bitterness lingers just enough to last until the next sip.
Palate: Very close to a West Coast dryness which is surprising from a beer with this high of an ABV. The nuttiness and bitterness sits well on the tongue in my opinion.
Overall: Iím a fan of the Hermitage brewery, as I love their single hop IPA series (Calypso in particular). Being from the Midwest, i find this to be an excellent DIPA, as it doesnít suffer from that overly sweet, kitchen sink style of DIPA formulation that so many other East Coast and Midwest DIPAís suffer from. I will definitely buy this beer again.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Aroma gives off lots of citrusty hop notes like mango, grapefruit and lemon. Good golden color with minimal haze and moderate head retention. Taste is very, very, bitter. Almost to the point of astringency. LOTS of hop bitterness and not as much hop flavor as the nose would suggest. Light Medium bodied, with a slight lingering bitterness and warming from the alcohol. Mediocre beer at best

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a golden/hazy straw color with a small head and leaves some lacing. The aroma is citrus, and maybe some bread. The taste has a hoppy, bitter, sweetness to it thatís really not bad. Thereís some traces of citrus in the flavor and overall itís not that bad as many ratings suggested. Itís definitely no double jack but it sure beats many DIPAís Iíve had. Thereís moderate carbonation and not a bad aftertaste.

Bottle sampled at a tasting event. From notes. Dank, lemon and floral hops with a good dose of orange citrus. Pretty darn good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a copper color with a nice head that fades to some lacing. Aroma is a mix of grapefruit and pine, with mild malt sweetness and grain. Taste on citrus and pine with some malt sweetness and bit of fruit. Decent bitterness and a finish that is quite dry. Medium body, crisp with a bit of tart. Nice beer but more of an IPA than a DIPA.

Bottle. Pour is a beautiful gold, foamy head. Aroma is citrus and pine, flavor matches aroma but has tons of stickiness to the mouthfeel.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap, sampler. Pours a bit cloudy yellow gold, doesnít lace much. Nose is muddy, hops, citrus, sugars. A bit sweet on the tongue. Hops are okay but donít shine in this beer.
